CAMBRIDGE -- Three players that led their teams to perfect weeks have claimed America East men's basketball awards for the week ending January 22. Boston University's Darryl Partin and Tommy Brenton are the league's Co-Players of the Week, while Vermont's Four McGlynn is the Rookie of the Week. The three teams combined to go 8-0 last week.

Partin (Seattle, Wash.) picked up his second Player of the Week honor of the season and third of his career after leading Boston U. to three wins last week by averaging a league-best 19 points per game.

The senior, who ranks second in America East and 16th nationally averaging 20 points per game, began his week by tallying 15 points, five rebounds, a career-best five assists and three steals in a 70-57 win over Albany on Monday. He then scored 20 of his team's 52 points in a 52-50 win over New Hampshire Thursday and concluded his week by tallying 22 points, all in the second half, and seven rebounds in a 65-46 win at Hartford Sunday. Partin helped out a Terrier defense that held their three foes to just 51 points game by averaging 5.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals.

Tommy Brenton (Columbia, Md.) earned his first career Player of the Week award after averaging a double-double and excelling defensively in Stony Brook's two wins last week.

The junior forward, who ranks second among league leaders averaging 9.3 rebounds per game, contributed 11.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 88.9 percent  from the field (8-of-9) last week. Brenton kicked off his week with a 13-point, seven-rebound performance in a 61-52 win over New Hampshire Monday. He then had a stellar all-around performance that led to a 58-52 win at Maine, registering nine points, 15 rebounds, four assists and four steals. Brenton's defense helped Stony Brook hold its two opponents to 52 points per game, including Maine, which was averaging 73.4 points per game coming into the game.

McGlynn (York, Pa.) is the America East Rookie of the Week for the third time after averaging 13.3 points per game  off the bench in Vermont's three wins last week.

McGlynn, the league's only freshman to currently  lead his team in scoring (11.6 ppg), twice paced his team in scoring and added a pair of game-sealing free throws. in his other game. The rookie guard scored a team-high 16 points in a 79-65 win over Maine Monday, then had nine points, including a pair of free throws with 11 seconds left to give his team a 73-69 win over Albany Thursday. He then had a team-high 15 points in a 90-62 win over UMBC Sunday. McGlynn, who ranks third in the league in 3-point FG percentage, made 6-of-10 (60 percent) last week.

Conference Notes
The Honor Roll

Several other America East players had top performances last week:
• Albany's Logan Aronhalt averaged 16 points in two games last week and tallied his 1,000th career points against UVM Thursday.
• D.J. Irving averaged 15 points and 5.3 assists in three Boston University wins last week.
• Maine's Justin Edwards averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists in three games.
• Alvin Abreu averaged 16 points in three games last week and had 20, his second-highest total of the season, at Stony Brook Monday.
• Matt Glass contributed 14 points in three games last week and hit a key three-pointer with just 31 seconds left in Vermont's 73-69 win over Albany Thursday.

League Standings Reset
With the halfway point of the conference schedule approaching, just two game separates the top five teams in the league standings. Boston U. (6-1) and Stony Brook (6-1) sit tied atop the league standings after perfect weeks. The Terriers, who have won six in a row, posted wins over Albany, New Hampshire and Hartford last week, while the Seawolves, winner of six of their last seven, beat UNH at home and Maine on the road. Vermont (6-2) also had a perfect week and heads into its bye having won six of its last seven after wins over Maine, Albany and UMBC. Hartford (4-3) went 2-1 last week and is tied for fourth with Albany (4-3). Maine (2-5) UMBC (2-5), UNH (2-5) and Binghamton (0-7) round out the standings.

Turnaround for the Terriers
Coming off a loss at Vermont on Jan. 5, Boston University sat at 4-11 and had lost seven in a row. But, the Terriers have not lost since, winning six straight and vault into a first-place tie with Stony Brook atop the conference standings. The Terriers, who are winning by an average of 11.3 points during their streak, are having success by holding teams down defensively. Boston U. has held foes to just 54.2 points per game during their streak. Darryl Partin, the league's second-leading scorer, in leading the way during the streak, averaging 19.8 points per game, while D.J. Irving is adding 14.2 points and 6.7 assists per game.

Seawolves Streaking With D

Stony Brook has won eight of its last nine games on the heels of its top-ranked defense. The Seawolves, who lead America East and rank 38th nationally allowing just 60.1 points per game, and  have allowed just 56.6 points per game in their most recent eight wins. Stony Brook is also holding opponents to just 42 percent shooting.

Catamounts Climbing
Vermont has reeled off six wins in its last seven games and enters the halfway point of its conference schedule at 6-2. The Catamounts, who have won those six games by an average margin of 15.6 points, have excelled offensively in wins this season, averaging 73.7 points per game in its 12 wins against just 58.1 points per game in its 10 losses. UVM's defense has been consistent all season and ranks second in America East, allowing just 62.9 points per game.

Home Sweet Home
Taking care of business at home has been a consistent theme for America East's top teams. Stony Brook and Albany are a combined 15-0 at home this year. The Seawolves, who are 8-0, have won nine straight at Pritchard Gym dating back to last season. The Great Danes are 7-0 and are riding an 10-game home court winning streak. In conference play, the top three teams in the conference standings (Boston U., Stony Brook, Vermont, Albany, Hartford) are a combined 15-2 at home. The Terriers have won 14 straight at home against America East foes. Their last loss to a league opponent in Boston came to Vermont on Feb. 9, 2010.

Offensive Firepower
America East boasts two of nation's top offensive threats in Albany's Gerardo Suero, who has scored 20-plus points 14 times leads the league and ranks fourth nationally averaging 21.3 ppg. Boston University's Darryl Partin is second in the conference and ranks 16th nationally (20.0) ppg,

Youth is Served

There is a youth movement in America East. No teams regularly start more than two seniors while Albany and Binghamton are two of nine Division I programs without a senior on its roster and Hartford gets over 60 percent of its scoring from freshmen. Additionally, eight of the league's top 20 scorers are freshmen or sophomores, led by Maine's Justin Edwards, who ranks fifth (15.2 ppg), and who is also sixth in rebounding (6.2 rpg).

Milestones Achieved
A few America East standouts surpassed milestones last week. Albany's Logan Aronhalt became the league's sixth active player with 1,000 points by scoring 12 points against Vermont on Thursday. Higher up the leaderboard, Gerald McLemore became just the 41st player in league history to score 1,500 points. Two weeks ago, Darryl Partin reached the 1,000-point mark by scoring 27 points at Maine Wednesday. Partin has scored 864 points in 53 career games at Boston U. and had 144 while at La Salle.

Team Notes
Albany Great Danes (12-9, 4-3 AE)

Albany dropped both of its road games last week against Boston U., 70-57, and against Vermont, 73-69 ... the Great Danes are now 1-3 on the road in the conference and 5-9 overall on the road ... Albany trailed at half in both games last week and are 1-5 on the season when behind at the half ... Before last week, UAlbany was 11-1 when outrebounding its opponent until it lost both games last week while still outrebounding its opponent ... Logan Aronhalt (Zanesville, Ohio/ Zanesville) was one of the brighter spots in a dark week scoring 20 and 12 last week, respectively ... Aronhalt's first field-goal against Vermont put him over 1,000 points as a Great Dane ... With 1,009 career points, the Zanesville native is currently 32nd all-time in scoring at UAlbany ... Mike Black (Chicago, Ill./ Oak Park Fenwick H.S) had a good week scoring 27 total points while dishing out seven helpers and four steals ... Gerardo Suero (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/ Our Savior New American) was held under double-digits for the first time in his career, scoring six points at Boston U., to end his streak of double-digit scoring at 19 games ... Albany looks ahead with a home game against Binghamton on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and then a road contest versus Hartford on Saturday, Jan. 28 ... The contest against Binghamton will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports channel 3 in the Albany area.

Binghamton Bearcats (0-19, 0-7 AE)
Binghamton lost twice on the week and remains in search of its first win of the season ... the Bearcats were defeated by host UMBC (by six) on Thursday and then suffered a 15-point setback at home against New Hampshire Sunday afternoon ... Sophomore guard Rob Mansell (Philadelphia, Pa./Cheltenham) averaged a team-best 14.0 points in the pair of games. Mansell netted a game-high 19 points against New Hampshire, thanks primarily to 10-of-10 accuracy from the free throw line. Mansell raised his percentage from the charity stripe to 77% for the season... Freshman forward Ben Dickinson (Alexandria, Va./Gonzaga) averaged 12.0 points ... the Bearcats outshot their opponents (47% to 46%) but averaged more than 15 turnovers and hit just three three-pointers in the two games ... Up next for Binghamton is the two-hour drive across I-88 and a matchup against longtime SUNY rival Albany on Wednesday. Following that, the Bearcats endure the nine-hour trek to Orono and a Saturday game with Maine that begins the second go-around in league play.

Boston U. Terriers (10-11, 6-1 AE)
Boston University is in a tie for first with Stony Brook and is one game away from .500 after sweeping through three games last week ... the Terriers are on a six-game win streak after knocking off Albany (70-57), New Hampshire (52-50) and Hartford (65-46) ... Boston U.'s defense held Gerardo Suero, then the nation's No. 4 scorer, to a season-low six points ... Sophomore D.J. Irving (Chester, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) had a team-high 17 points, six assists and three steals ... Terriers trailed 21-17 with 4:41 left in the first half but then went on 36-9 run over following 15 minutes to pull away ... After tallying 15 points in the win, senior Darryl Partin (Seattle, Wash./La Salle) followed with 20 points at UNH and 22 points at Hartford ... Boston U.'s 52 points at UNH marked the team's fewest points scored in a win since a 43-41 win over Vermont on Jan. 22, 2006 ... Terriers held Brian Benson to five rebounds ... Sophomore Dom Morris (Newark, Del./Friends Central) posted a game-high 12 rebounds to help the Terriers out-rebound Hartford, 41-20 ... Boston U. is on its best start to an America East schedule since going 17-1 in 2003-04 ... Terriers will next host UMBC on Tuesday (Jan. 24) before visiting Stony Brook on Friday (Jan. 27) at 9 p.m. on ESPNU ... the Terriers won the earlier match-up at home, 61-55.

Hartford Hawks (4-15, 4-3 AE)
Hartford went 2-1 last week in league play, scoring wins against UMBC (74-57) and on the road at Maine (63-49) before dropping a 65-46 decision at home to Boston University ... the Hawks continue to move through their America East schedule with two games this week ... Rookie Wes Cole (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) paced the Hawks with 12.3 points per game while veteran point guard Andres Torres (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Adianez) contributed 11.7 per outing to lead the Hawks ... Torres compiled his first career double-double in the UMBC game with a game-high 16 points and 10 assists ... In its two wins against UMBC and Maine, Hartford outrebounded both opponents for the first time this season ... Furthermore, in those two wins, Hartford shot over the 50.0-percent clip for just the third and fourth time this year ... The Hawks posted their largest margin of victory of the season against UMBC (17) ... At Maine, the Hawks earned their third win in a row, and fourth-straight against the Black Bears, after holding the top offensive team in the America East to just 49 points ... Hartford led by as much as 22 at Maine, its largest lead of the season ... Torres dished out six assists in that win and now ranks seventh all-time in program history with 278 ... Hartford first travels to Stony Brook on Wednesday (7 p.m.) before playing host to Albany on Sunday (4 p.m.).

Maine Black Bears (8-10, 2-5 AE)
Maine fell at Vermont 79-65, to Hartford 63-49 and to Stony Brook 58-52...In Burlington, Justin Edwards (Whitby, Ontario/Anderson CVI) had 19 points and seven assists to lead Maine...Mike Allison (Lynden, Ontario/National Elite Development Academy) added 10 points and four blocks while Raheem Singleton (Boston, Mass./Monroe Community College) added 13 points, three rebounds and three assists... Against Hartford, Alasdair Fraser (Falkirk, Scotland/Falkirk Clark Eriksson Fury) had 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals ... Freshman Xavier Pollard (Bronx, N.Y./Winchendon Academy) came off the bench to score eight points...Pollard had a great game against Stony Brook, notching career-highs with 14 points and nine rebounds ... Edwards added 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, his fifth game of the season with at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists ... Singleton added 13 points and four steals...Gerald McLemore (San Diego, Calif./Worcester Academy) notched his 1,500th career point in the contest ... Allison now has at least two blocks in eight out of the 11 games he's played in this season and his 65 career blocks put him ninth on the all-time list at Maine ... Edwards now has nine games with at least four assists, 13 games with at least five rebounds and 15 games with at least 10 points on the season ... Maine continues play on Wednesday at New Hampshire and hosts Binghamton on Saturday.

UMBC Retrievers (3-15, 2-5 AE)

UMBC has allowed 41 3-point field goals in its five league losses, including 18 in setbacks to Hartford (10) and Vermont (8) this week... In between the two, the Retrievers did snap a four-game losing streak and nine-game home drought with a 64-58 victory over Binghamton... In that contest, UMBC's perimeter defense held the Bearcats to one 3-point field goal in five attempts... The last time the Retrievers allowed one trifecta or fewer was on Feb. 8, 2007 when the Vermont Catamounts were 0-for-8 in a 66-57 victory over UMBC... The victory was UMBC's 50th (50-89) in its ninth year of America East competition... Notable performances for the week included junior Adrian Satchell (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) scoring 11 points and grabbing a team-best 7 rebounds in his return to his home area vs. the Hawks... Junior guard Ryan Cook (Laurel, Md./Pallotti/Chestnut Hill) ran his doubles figures streak to a season-best four with 12 points vs. Hartford and a game-best 20 vs. Binghamton... Sophomore Chase Plummer (Plainfield, N.J./St. Patrick) led all players with 20 points and 9 rebounds vs. Vermont... Plummer now has scored 20 or more points in five games this season... Junior guard Brian Neller (Red Bank, N.J./Christian Bros. Academy) surpassed the 500-point plateau at Hartford and scored in double figures with 16 points vs. Binghamton and 13 vs. Vermont... The Retrievers are 73-of-100 from the free throw line (73.0 percent) in the final minutes of games and 41-of-54 (75.9 percent) in the final two minutes and overtime... UMBC completes a four-game in seven day stretch on Tuesday at Boston U. and then has eight days off before playing at Albany on Feb. 1.

New Hampshire Wildcats (7-11, 2-5 AE)
New Hampshire rounded out its most recent week of action with a 1-2 record, capping off the stretch with a 64-49 victory over Binghamton University (Jan. 22) at the Events Center ... Chandler Rhoads (Berryville, Va./Air Force Prep) and Ferg Myrick (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) poured in 19 and 18 points, respectively, to lead the Wildcats to victory ... Rhoads collected America East Player of the Game honors for UNH, adding four boards and one assist to his line ... Myrick's point total was a season high and just three points shy of his career best mark ... He also tallied eight rebounds and two helpers ... Alvin Abreu (Lynn, Mass./Boys to Men Academy) was the only other Wildcat to score in double-figures with 12 points to go along with three assists, two boards and two steals ... Earlier in the week the Wildcats dropped decisions to Boston University (Jan. 19) and Stony Brook (Jan. 16) ... Abreu led a late UNH charge by scoring eight straight points to slice a nine-point deficit to one, but Boston University held on for a 52-50 victory over the Wildcats at Lundholm Gymnasium ... Abreu collected America East Player of the Game honors for New Hampshire, registering 16 points, one rebound, one assist and one steal in 36 minutes of action ... Patrick Konan (Gainesville, Fla./The Rock School) posted 15 points, three rebounds and two steals ... The Wildcats opened the week with a 61-52 loss to Stony Brook ... Abreu claimed America East Player of the Game honors for the Wildcats, notching 20 points, two assists, one rebound, one block and one steal ... Konan chipped in with 15 points, three boards and one block ... New Hampshire outshot Stony Brook 47.6 percent (20-42) to 46 percent (23-50) from the floor and 40.9 percent (9-22) to 26.7 percent (4-15) from beyond the arc ... The Wildcats are back in action when they take on the University of Maine on Wednesday, Jan. 25 (7 p.m.) at Lundholm Gymnasium.

Stony Brook Seawolves (11-7, 6-1 AE)
Stony Brook won both of its games last week to improve to 6-1 in conference and remain in first place ... the Seawolves defeated New Hampshire, 61-52, and then won at Maine, 58-52 ... the win over UNH was Stony Brook's ninth consecutive home victory ... the win at Maine was the team's third in Orono over the last five seasons ... the 6-1 start to America East play is Stony Brook's best-ever seven-game start to the conference schedule...junior Tommy Brenton (Columbia, Md.) continues to play well on both sides of the ball ... he averaged 11.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals while making 8 of 9 shots in the two wins...at Maine, he grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds to go with nine points, four assists and four steals ... it's the fourth time this season he has had at least nine points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a game ... senior Bryan Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J.)saw his consecutive double-digit scoring streak come to an end at 14 games, but he did record his 300th career 3-pointer at Maine ... he is Stony Brook's all-time leader in that category and is in the top 20 in the nation in 3-pointers made per game this season ... the Seawolves defense continues to play strong during conference play ... the team is allowing only 56.4 points per game in conference play and has allowed only two opponents to reach 60 points so far ... Stony Brook has outrebounded its opponent in 10 consecutive games...the Seawolves will begin a three-game homestand this Wednesday against Hartford and then host Boston University Friday night in a nationally televised ESPNU game.

Vermont Catamounts (12-10, 6-2 AE)
Vermont went a perfect 3-0 last week … the Catamounts opened the week with a 79-65 victory at home against Maine behind 16 points from freshman Four McGlynn (York, Pa./Dallastown) … Four Cats reached double figures as they shot 49.1 percent from the floor for the game … Vermont followed that up with a 73-69 victory over Albany at home on Thursday … Senior Matt Glass (Underhill Center, Vt./Northfield Mt. Hermon/UMass) led UVM with 16 points, including a big 3-pointer that gave Vermont a four-point lead with 31 seconds to go … For a second straight game four Catamounts reached double figures … Four different UVM players hit a pair of 3-pointers … Vermont wrapped up the week with a 90-62 win at UMBC … In the game the Cats set new season-highs for points, field goal percentage (56.9) and assists (25), as six Catamounts netted double figures … McGlynn led UVM with 15, while sophomore Brian Voelkel (Pleasantville, N.Y./Iona Prep) added 10 assists and seven rebounds … 11 of the 12 Cats that played, scored … The Catamounts scored 51 points in the second half and led by as many as 29 … Vermont has won six of its last seven overall … UVM returns to action this week when it hosts New Hampshire on Sunday at 12 p.m. in a game that will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
