Road Teams Go 4-0 in Men's Hoops Action This Weekend

Home teams were 18-10 in conference games heading into this weekend's America East men's basketball action. However, that trend did not continue as road teams went 4-0 with Boston U., New Hampshire and Vermont all posting victories away from home Sunday and Stony Brook starting the trend on Saturday.

Boston U. (10-11, 6-1 AE) moved into a tie atop the conference standings with Stony Brook following its 65-46 win at Hartford (4-15, 4-3 AE). The Terriers, who extended their win streak to six games and stopped Hartford's three-game run, shot 63 percent after halftime and held the Hawks to just 35 percent for the game. Darryl Partin led the way with a game-high 22 points for Boston U., while Wes Cole had 11 off the bench for Hartford.

New Hampshire (7-11, 2-5 AE) used a 12-2 first-half run to grow a lead it would not relinquish at Binghamton (0-19, 0-7 AE) and won its second league game, 64-49. The Wildcats' got 25 points from their bench, led by Ferg Myrick's 18 points, against zero for Binghamton. Chandler Rhoads has a game-high tying 19 points for UNH, while Robert Mansell also had 19 for the Bearcats.

Vermont (12-10, 6-2 AE) completed its first half of the league schedule with a 90-62 win over UMBC. The Catamounts, who have won six of their last seven games, shot 57 percent from the field and scored a season-high 90 points. Six Cats scored in twin figures, led by Four McGlynn's 15 points. Clancy Rugg (13 points), Luke Apfeld (12), Pat Bergmann (12), Matt Glass (12) and Brendan Bald (11) joined McGlynn. Chase Plummer had a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds for UMBC.

In Saturday's lone game, Stony Brook (11-7, 6-1 AE) won for the eighth time in nine games, downing Maine (8-10, 2-5 AE), 58-52, in Orono. The Seawolves, who moved back into sole possession of first place in the league standings temporarily with the win, held the Black Bears to just 33 percent shooting. Tommy Brenton contributed nine points, a season-high 15 rebounds and four assists to lead Stony Brook, while, Justin Edwards had 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Maine, which has dropped five in a row.

America East men's hoops action kicks back up on Tuesday with UMBC visiting Boston U.
