Three hot teams stayed so Thursday as Boston U., Hartford and Vermont all picked up wins in America East men's basketball action. UMBC was also victorious.
Boston U. (9-11, 5-1 AE) beat New Hampshire, 52-50, for its fifth straight win. The victory moved the Terriers into a first-place tie with Stony Brook (10-7, 5-1 AE) atop the conference standings. Darryl Partin tallied a game-high 20 points to lead Boston U. Alvin Abreu had 16 for UNH.
Hartford (4-14, 4-2 AE) posted its third straight win and fourth in its last five games by downing Maine (8-9, 2-4 AE), 63-49, in Orono. The Hawks shot a season-high 51 percent and held the Black Bears to just 39 percent. Wes Cole led the Hawks with 13 points off the bench. Alasdair Fraser had 12 poins and eight rebounds for Maine.
Vermont (11-10, 5-2 AE) beat Albany (12-9, 4-3 AE), 73-69, for its fifth win in six games. Matt Glass, who finished with a game-high tying 16 points, hit a three-pointer to give the Catamounts their winning margin with 31 seconds left. Gerardo Suero led Albany with 16 points, while Logan Aronhalt had 12, all in the second half, including his 1,000th career point.
In Baltimore, UMBC (3-15, 2-4 AE) snapped a four-game losing skid with a 64-58 win over Binghamton (0-18, 0-6 AE). Ryan Cook tallied a game-high 20 points for UMBC, while Ben Dickinson paced the Bearcats with 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
