Three teams rebounded from MLK Day losses Monday and picked up league wins Thursday night, including Binghamton who snapped a three-game skid.
Andrea Holmes paced the Bearcats to a 61-43 win over UMBC with a game-high 24 points. Binghamton (9-10, 3-3 AE), who came into the game with three straight losses, handed UMBC (10-9, 4-2 AE) its first loss since Jan. 4 and broke up the Retrievers' three-game win streak. Viive Rebane was another solid factor in the Bearcats' win with 14 points, nine boards and four steals.
After receiving its first blow in conference play on Monday, Albany (12-8, 6-1 AE) got back on track with a 65-47 victory against Vermont (8-12, 2-5 AE). For the sixth time in the last seven games, the Great Danes again didn't allow their opponent to reach the 50-point mark, limiting the Catamounts to 30 percent field-goal shooting. Albany juniors Julie Forster and Ebone Henry each notched double-doubles, Forster with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Henry with 12 points and 10 boards. Henry added five helpers, three steals and two blocks.
Hartford (11-9, 2-4 AE) returned home to Chase Family Arena to earn a 64-52 win over Maine (4-15, 1-5 AE). The Hawks forced 15 Black Bear turnovers and turned those into 19 points on the offensive end. Hartford juniors Daphne Elliott and Nikkia Smith scored 15 points apiece, while Maine senior Samantha Baranowski had back-to-back career outings with a game-high 19 points on Thursday.
In the fourth game of the night, Boston U. (13-6, 6-0 AE) kept its perfect America East record and unblemished season home record intact with a dominant 79-39 win over New Hampshire (10-8, 3-3 AE). Ten Terriers got into the scoring column, with four reach double-digits, while also holding the Wildcats to just 21.8 percent shooting from the field. Boston U. junior Chantell Alford netted a game-high 17 points to go along with six boards, six assists and two steals.
