Road teams had quite a bit of success on Saturday, going 4-0 in a full slate of games.
Hartford (10-8, 1-3 AE) traveled out to Vestal, N.Y. looking to snap a four-game skid and returned to West Hartford with its first America East win of the season. Three Hawks scored double-figure points to lead the team to a 64-41 win over Binghamton (8-10, 2-3 AE). Hartford shot 47.3 percent for the game to Binghamton's 31.3 percent and forced the Bearcats into 16 turnovers while only turning the ball over eight times themselves.
Hartford junior Nikkia Smith had a game-high 16 points and team-high eight rebounds. Classmates Ruthanne Doherty and Daphne Elliott finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Binghamton senior Andrea Holmes was the only Bearcat with twin-figure points, finishing with 10 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
Meanwhile up in Burlington, New Hampshire (9-7, 2-2 AE) and Vermont (8-10, 2-3 AE) battled in an overtime affair with the Wildcats ending up on top 69-63.
New Hampshire, who led by seven points with eight minutes left, weathered a Vermont rally by forcing overtime on two Denise Beliveau free throws with nine ticks on the clock.
UNH outrebounded Vermont 55-47 for the game, and scored 23 second-chance points to Vermont's 11. The Wildcats were also successful in the paint, tallying 38 points, includng six in the overtime frame. Beliveau finished with 15 points and 17 rebounds and teammate Morgan Frame tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Lauren Buschmann had a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds to go with four steals to lead the Catamounts. Rookie Tierra Shumpert scored 17 points and hit four of Vermont's nine three-pointers.
Boston U. (11-6, 4-0 AE) and Albany (11-7, 5-0 AE) both remained undefeated with wins on Saturday. The Terriers led wire-to-wire against Stony Brook (4-14, 1-4 AE) en route to a 69-34 victory. Albany pulled away from Maine (3-14, 0-4 AE) in the final 10 minutes to pick up the 60-48 road win.
