In this edition of "America East Online", the show
profiles the latest stories and achievements of the America East Conference.
America East Online is a 20-minute web-only show which features all nine of the
conference's campuses and highlights athletics, academics and leadership.
The episode begins with a preview of the upcoming America
East men's and women's lacrosse tournaments. Stony Brook men's lacrosse
head coach Rick Sowell and Albany women's lacrosse head coach John Battaglino
discuss the keys to winning the America East regular-season title, as well as
what it will take for their programs to succeed in the conference tournament.
The next segment is a recap of the recently completed America
East Tennis Championships, which took place at Yale University last weekend.
Interviews with Binghamton head coach Adam Cohen and Boston University head
coach Lindsey Sheehan recap the thrilling action of the weekend, which saw the
Bearcats bring home their fourth consecutive championship and the Terriers win
their 18th
consecutive title.
The tremendous season of Vermont freshman attack Sydney Mas
is profiled in the next segment. Mas, who set an America East single-season
rookie record with 55 goals, discusses some of her main adjustments to
competing at the Division I level. Vermont head coach Jen Johnson also talks
about the play of Mas and what it is about her game that has made her so successful.
The episode concludes with the "Best of U." series, which this
week highlights the heroic efforts of Binghamton freshman pitcher Jed Lemen and
his brother Billy. While on their way to church, the brothers saw a woman signaling
for help and soon discovered that a woman had been trapped in a creek after her
car flipped over. The brothers immediately went to rescue the woman and kept
her head above the water until the Fire Department arrived on the scene.
The show, hosted by America East's Max Mandel, will be
available every other Wednesday throughout the rest of the academic year. Fans
can watch the web show at the America East Zone on AmericaEast.com, as well as
on the league's social media web sites such as YouTube and Facebook.
