Crowley Named USILA Midfielder of Year, Six Others Receive All-America Honors

Five America East men's lacrosse standouts earned All-America recognition while three also garnered Scholar All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Coaches Association (USILA), the organization announced on Thursday. Stony Brook's Kevin Crowley highlighted the selections by being named Midfielder of the Yaer, earning first-team All-America honors and taking home Scholar All-America accolades.

Crowley was joined by Hartford's Tim Fallon, a second-team honoree, fellow Seawolf Jordan McBride, a third-team choice, the Hawks' Carter Bender and Stony Brook's Adam Rand, who were both honorable mention selections. Crowley, McBride and teammate Tom Compitello were the three Scholar All-Americans.

Tabbed a first-team All-America East selection for the fourth time this season, Crowley poured in a league-best 56 points on 30 goals and 26 assists during his senior season to become a first-team All-American for the second straight season. The senior attacker ranks seventh nationally with 4.00 points per game. The 2010 America East Player of the Year ends his as one of the most prolific players in America East history totaling 131 goals and 101 assists. Crowley, the 2010 Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete, also earned America East All-Academic honors for the third straight season and has been an America East Honor Roll member.

Fallon, a faceoff specialist, earned All-America recognition for the second consecutive season after earning honorable mention accolades in 2010. The two-time first-team All-America East selection ranks second nationally with 9.22 ground balls per game and eighth in faceoff percentage winning 62.1 percent of his draws.

McBride, a senior attack, was named to the third-team for second straight year after receiving honorable mention accolades each of his first two years. A four-time first-team All-America East choice, McBride ranks second among national leaders with 2.93 goals per game (41 goals) and finished his career with 175 scores. He's also been an America East Honor Roll member.

Bender, a junior attack, led Hartford to its best season its first-ever America East title and subsequent NCAA berth. The America East All-Championship team member ranked second among league leaders with 53 points and third with 35 goals.

Rand, a senior faceoff specialist, earned all-conference honors for the second straight year. He paced the Seawolves and ranks sixth nationally in ground balls (6.86 pg) and 11th in face0ff percentage (.601).

Compitello, a senior attack, earned first-team All-America East status for the second straight season and ranked among league leaders with 35 points. He's also been an America East Honor Roll member.

The selections bring America East's total USILA All-Americans to 30 since 2007.
