STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Six softball standouts from four different America East schools were named 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region selections, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday afternoon.
Four of those selections earned first-team honors. America East Co-Players Jessica Phillips of Binghamton and April Setterlund were joined by Terrier Chelsea Kehr, the league's Rookie of the Year, and UMBC's Katie Ferguson on the first team. Phillips and Ferguson, both first-team All-America East choices, were Mid-Atlantic Region honorees, while Setterlund and Kehr were Northeast Region selections.
Albany's Gina Mason, the first-team all-league first basemanb and Boston U.'s Holli Floetker, the America East Pitcher of the Year, were second-team choices.
The NFCA All-America team, for which all six players are eligible, will be announced Wednesday, June 1 at 5 p.m EDT.
