Every gameday throughout the 2011 season, America East will provide a women's lacrosse update that  previews the day's matchups as well as recaps the previous day's action. Saturday, April 9
*UMBC 14, at Vermont 13 -- Box Score

  • Vermont (7-7, 1-3 America East) scored the final five goals of the game, but could not complete the comeback at home against UMBC (9-4, 3-1 AE).
  • Vermont fired off 25 shots, including 22 shots on goal, while UMBC attempted 23 shots, 17 of which were on target. Catamounts outshot UMBC, 15-6 in the second half.
  • UMBC senior keeper Natalie Rau made nine saves on the afternoon.
  • Juniro midfielder Alicia Krause led the UMBC offense with five points on four goals and an assist. Junior attack Emily Coady posted three goals and an assist while senior attack Erika Braerman also recorded a hat trick.
  • Vermont freshman attack Sydney Mas scored four goals and also dished out an assist. Freshman midfielder Marcie Marino added four points on three goals and an assist.

 


*at Stony Brook 10, Binghamton 9 -- Box Score

  • Binghamton (3-10, 1-2 AE) knotted the score, 8-8, with 13:50 to play, but Stony Brook (4-8, 1-3 AE) pulled away and held on for the win at home.
  • Binghamton outshot Stony Brook, 27-18, but both teams put 16 shots on net.
  • The Seawolves scored seven goals on just 10 shots in the first half.
  • Stony Brook senior attack Samantha Djaha scored four goals to lead the Seawolves while junior attack Abby Ford scored three points on one goal and two assists.
  • Senior midfielder Beth Moore scored four goals to pace the Bearcats. Junior attack Lis Zuern added a pair of goals and one assist.

 


*at #10/7 Albany 16, New Hampshire 8 -- Box Score

  • Albany (11-0, 3-0 AE) opened a 7-1 lead in the first half as it coasted to a win at home against New Hampshire (6-6, 1-2 AE).
  • The Great Danes outshot the Wildcats, 33-20, and held a 27-14 advantage in shots on goal.
  • New Hampshire turned the ball over 14 times while Albany committed just eight turnovers.
  • Senior attack Taylor Frink scored five points on one goal and four assists. sophomore midfielder Rachael Burek scored a game-high four goals while senior attack Jodi Battaglia scored three goals and dished out two helpers.
  • New Hampshire was led by sophomore midfielder Jenny Simpson, who scored three goals. Senior attack Allie Duclos added a pair of goals for the Wildcats.
