at Vermont 15, Holy Cross 5 -- Box Score

  • Vermont (5-5, 0-1 America East) jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and never let Holy Cross get closer than five goals the rest of the way.
  • The 15-goal outburst is the highest single-game offensive output for a Catamount team since April 28, 2007 when Vermont scored 20 goals in a 20-12 win over Hartford.
  • Vermont outshot the Crusaders, 37-23. The Catamounts put more shots on goal (24) than Holy Cross attempted shots (23).
  • The Catamounts scored on three of their four extra-man opportunities. The Catamounts held the Holy Cross scoreless in five man-up situations.
  • Vermont won 13-of-22 faceoffs in the game, including a perfect 8-of-8 in the first quarter.
  • Sophomore attack Drew Philie scored four goals while also adding an assist to lead the Catamount offense.
  • Senior midfielder Kyle Sminkey scored three goals, all in the first quarter. He now has six goals in his last two games and 11 goals on the season. He had seven career goals entering his senior season.
