Men's Lacrosse Tournament Field Set Following Saturday's Action

Every gameday throughout the 2011 season, America East will provide a men's lacrosse update that  previews the day's matchups as well as recaps the previous day's action. The update will also provide links to live coverage, box scores and highlights of select games. Saturday, April 23

At UMBC 9, Vermont 8- Box Score

  • Sophomore attack Scott Jones netted the game-winning goal with just 41 seconds remaining to help propel UMBC (6-5, 3-1 America East) to the 9-8 home victory over Vermont (6-8, 1-3 America East).
  • With the victory, UMBC extended its winning streak to four games and clinched a spot in the upcoming America East tournament.
  • Jones was terrific throughout the game for UMBC, as he recorded a team-high five points on three goals and two assists in the win.
  • Junior attack Geoff Worley scored a team-high four points on three goals and an assist for the Catamounts. Sophomore attack Drew Philie and sophomore midfielder Thomas Galvin each added three points.

At No. 13/14 Stony Brook 23, Albany 11- Box Score

  • No. 13/14 Stony Brook (8-4, 4-0 America East) clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming America East tournament and a share of the regular-season title with a 23-11 win over Albany (4-9, 0-4 America East).
  • Senior attack Tom Compitello led the way for the Seawolves with a team-high six points on two goals and a team-high four assists.
  • Senior attack Jordan McBride added a team-high five goals, while junior midfielder Jared LeVerne recorded four points and junior midfielder Robbie Campbell scored three points.
  • The Great Danes were led by freshman attack Miles Thompson, who recorded a game-high seven points on a team-high five goals and two assists.

At Binghamton 10, Hartford 8- Box Score

  • Sophomore attack Matt Springer netted a team-high four goals to help lead Binghamton (6-7, 2-2 America East) to the 10-8 home victory over Hartford (8-6, 2-2 America East). With the win, the Bearcats clinched a spot in the America East tournament.
  • Despite the loss, Hartford also earned a spot in the upcoming America East tournament thanks to its victory earlier this season over Vermont.
  • Junior midfielder Chris Cook scored a goal and scooped up a game-high nine ground balls to help Binghamton earn the win.
  • Junior attack Aidan Genik scored a game-high five goals and scooped up three ground balls for the Hawks in the loss.
