- Stony Brook (5-3, 1-0 America East) opened up its conference slate with an offensive outburst at home against UMBC (2-5, 0-1 AE).
- Stony Brook raced out to an 11-0 lead after the first half and a 14-0 cushion after the third quarter.
- Stony Brook outshot UMBC, 44-18, including a 29-11 edge in shots on goal. The Stony Brook defense held the Retrievers to just two shots on goal through the first three periods.
- The Seawolves held a 44-18 advantage in ground balls and won 18-of-25 faceoffs.
- Senior attack Jordan McBride poured in seven goals on 13 shots and nine shots on goal to lead the Seawolves.
- Stony Brook senior midfielder Kevin Crowley tallied two goals and dished out four assists for six total points.
- Freshman midfielder Ryan Johnston came off the bench to score a pair of goals in the fourth quarter for UMBC.
- Junior keeper Brian McCullough made 13 saves on the evening.
