CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- A pair of America East's top goal scorers have earned men's lacrosse weekly honors after tallying hat tricks on Saturday. UMBC's Scott Jones (Port Coquitlam, B.C./Terry Fox) earned Player of the Week honors after leading his squad to its third straight win, while Albany's Miles Thompson (Nedrow, N.Y./LaFayette) garnered Rookie of the Week accolades for the third time this season. The awards for the week ending April 17 were announced Monday afternoon.

Jones scored four of his career-high five goals in the fourth quarter of UMBC's 13-9 win over Albany on Saturday. After the Great Danes tied the contest at nine with 11 minutes left in the game, Jones scored the game's next three goals to seal the win for UMBC, which has surpassed last season's victory total with the win. A sophomore attack, Jones, who also picked up two ground balls against Albany, ranks eighth among league leaders with 1.7 goals per game (17 goals in 10 games) and has 12 scores over his last six outings.

Thompson tied a career high with four points in Albany's loss to UMBC on Saturday. The freshman attack scored three goals, all in the third quarter, and added an assist. Thompson, who also earned Rookie of the Week honors on March 7 and April 4, also had a career-best three ground balls and one caused turnover. Thompson, who has tallied multiple points in six straight games, is tied for seven among league leaders and leads all conference rookies with 21 goals this season.

After winning its third straight game and improving to 7-3 on the season, Stony Brook remained at 13th in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Despite the convincing 13-6 win over Binghamton, the Seawolves, who can secure at least a share of the America East regular-season title and the No. 1 seed for the league tournament with a win over Albany Saturday, fell one spot to 14th in the USILA Coaches' Poll.

Binghamton (5-7, 1-2 AE) suffered a 13-6 setback at the hands of No. 13 Stony Brook Saturday night from LaValle Stadium ... the Bearcats held a modest shot advantage over the preseason favorite Seawolves (34-31) but could only muster six scores for the contest ... The opening frame featured a combined eight goals as Binghamton came out firing and trailed just 5-3 ... Despite switching to a zone defense that slowed a potent Stony Brook offense which ranked ninth nationally at 11.33 goals per game, the Bearcats were held to a scoring drought for over 30 minutes that spanned the second and most of the third quarter, fueling a devastating Stony Brook run ... Junior face-off specialist Chris Cook (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) registered a stellar all-around performance as he won 11-of-23 draws, limiting Stony Brook senior Adam Rand well below his season average of 65 percent ... Cook was instrumental in creating transition opportunities for the Bearcats offensively as he netted a goal and tallied a career-high two assists directly following wins in the face-off circle ... He also scooped up seven ground balls, matching Rand for game-high honors ... Freshman Michael Antinozzi (Fallston, Md./Fallston) posted a pair of goals to lead the Bearcats.

Hartford (8-5, 2-1 AE) split a pair of games, first falling at home to Fairfield on Wednesday, 10-9, before scoring a 12-8 win at Vermont on Saturday ... the Hawks boast a winning record in league play for the first time since 2003 and boast the most overall wins since that season ... Hartford battled Fairfield down to the wire as the game saw eight ties with the lead changing hands five times before the Stags found the back of the net with 1.6 seconds remaining on the game clock ... Junior attackman Carter Bender (Caledon, Ontario/Brewster Academy) put together a six point game, scoring five times to lead the Hawks ... With his fifth goal, he reached the 100 point clip, becoming the 14th player in program history to reach that milestone ... Classmate Aidan Genik (Toronto, Ontario/Malvern C.I./Univ. of Western Ontario) also cracked the 100 point milestone on Saturday after assisting on the Hawks' fourth goal at Vermont ... Saturday's win over Vermont was Hartford's first since 2003 ... the Hawks ran out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back against the Catamounts ... Sophomore Rory Nunamacher (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) netted a hat trick while junior Martin Bowes (Quincy, Mass./Quincy) notched a game-best five points ... the Hawks got a solid 12-save effort out of goalie Scott Bement (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) on Saturday ... Stony Brook also stretched its America East win streak to 10 ... Seniors Kevin Crowley (New Westminster, British Columbia/New Westminster) and Jordan McBride (New Westminster, British Columbia/New Westminster) each scored three goals .. McBride has 27 career hat tricks and Crowley has 26, tops among all active players ... Stony Brook is 11-2 when McBride and Crowley record hat tricks ... the Seawolves will honor their 11 seniors prior to next week's game vs. Albany.

Vermont (6-6, 1-2 AE)
fell to Hartford on Saturday at home 12-8 in its only game of the week … The Catamounts spotted the Hawks a 7-0 lead midway through the second quarter before mounting a come back bid in the third that cut it to 8-6 … Hartford would score a man-down tally, the first of four straight goals, to pull away and earn the win … Sophomore Thomas Galvin (Cockeysville, Md./St. Paul’s) paced Vermont with three goals and an assist, while junior Geoff Worley (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) (1 goal, 3 assists) and sophomore A.J. Masson (Newmarket, Ontario/St. Andrew's College) (3A) each added three points for the Cats … UVM was 5-0 at home this season and had only given up 5.8 goals per game in those five wins … The Catamounts had the fifth-longest active home winning streak in the nation (5 games) prior to the loss … Trailing 8-1 at the half, Vermont scored the first five goals of the third period as it went 3-for-4 with a man advantage in the stanza … Vermont is 0-4 this season when giving up 10 or more goals in a game … The Catamounts return to action on Tuesday when they play their final non-conference game of the season at Dartmouth starting at 6 p.m. … Vermont will also travel to face UMBC on Saturday at 1 p.m. in its final regular season road game.
