CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Standout performances by Vermont's Drew Philie (Sandwich, Mass./Deerfield Academy) and UMBC's Phil Poe (Harwood, Md./De Matha) have earned the duo America East men's lacrosse weekly honors for the week ending April 10. Philie picked up Player of the Week recognition while Poe garnered Rookie of the Week accolades.
Philie led the Catamounts to a pair of wins by tallying eight points last week. The sophomore attack racked up five goals and an assist in his team's 15-5 win over Holy Cross on Tuesday and added three more goals in Vermont's 11-6 victory over Albany Sunday. The win over Albany was UVM's first since 2001. Philie, who leads America East with 25 goals and is tied for second with 33 points, has led the Catamounts to six wins this season, which is already their most since 2006.
Poe played a key role in helping UMBC win back-to-back games for the first time this season last week. The freshman midfielder scored his first career goal in the Retrievers' 9-8 win over Towson on Wednesday. He also picked up eight ground balls and won 13-of-21 faceoffs. Poe added seven grounds balls and won 8-of-16 faceoffs in Saturday's 8-6 win over Binghamton. For the week, Poe, who ranks second on UMBC with 24 ground balls, won 57 percent of his draws.
Following its 10-8 come-from-behind win over Hartford Saturday, Stony Brook rose a spot in both the USILA Coaches' Poll and Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Polls and is now 13th. Hartford, which is off to its best start since 2000 at 7-4, is receiving votes in the Inside Lacrosse Poll.
Conference play continues on Saturday when Vermont hosts Hartford, Binghamton travels to Stony Brook and UMBC visits Albany.

The host Retrievers scored six straight goals in a devastating run during the second quarter ... Binghamton clawed back with consecutive goals from freshman attackman Brandon Planck (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) and Tyler Perrelle (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) in a span of 90 seconds before the half ... The second half was a defensive battle as Binghamton scored once in the third and each team netted one final goal in the fourth to account for the 8-6 final ... Senior midfielder David Raleigh (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) and Planck scored a pair of goals to lead Binghamton offensively ... Campbell and Trenkle accounted for six of the Seawolves' seven goals in the fourth quarter as they erased a three-goal deficit, 6-3 ... It was the second time Stony Brook has scored seven goals in a quarter this season (Bryant) ...
