CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - A trio of America East softball standouts have earn weekly honors for the week ending March 6. Maine's Terren Hall (Bucksport, Maine/Bucksport) earned Player of the Week recognition while Boston University's Holli Floetker (Fountain Valley, Calif/Ocean View) took home Pitcher of the Week honors for the second straight year and Chelsea Kehr (Florence, N.J./Florence) picked up Rookie of the Week accolades.

Hall, a senior third baseman, played a huge role in three of Maine's four wins last week. A first-team all-conference choice last year, she batted .346, added six walks and drove in eight runs in nine games last week. Hall delivered game-winning walk off singles in wins over Western Michigan and St. Francis (Pa.). Hall, who racked up a 1.083 OPS for the week, also went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs and six RBI in a win over Toledo.

Floetker, a rookie hurler, fired seven innings of one-hit ball in a win over Mercer to pick up her second straight Pitcher of the Week award. She allowed just one run on one hit, an infield single in the fifth, and struck out seven to improve to 2-0 with a 0.55 earned run average during her freshman campaign.

Kehr, a redshirt freshman, reached base in four out seven plate appearances and drove in a pair of runs last week. In a loss to Kennesaw State, she got on base three times and belted an RBI double. She then hit her first home run as a collegian in a win over Mercer.

Team Notes

Albany (1-4) had all of its game rained out over the weekend ... The Great Danes kicked off the 2011 season in Fort Myers, Fla., at the Moe's Blue & Green Invite hosted by Florida Gulf Coast two weeks ago... The Great Danes' lone victory of the weekend came in a 10-inning game against Eastern Michigan... Junior Brittany Schweiger (Orangevale, Calif./Bella Vista) earned the win in the circle... Schweiger made three appearances, including two starts and one complete game, striking out 12 opposing batters in 14.1 innings of work... Senior Gina Mason (Sacramento, Calif./El Camino) hit .400 for the weekend, recording six hits, including a home run, while scoring three runs and driving in two more... Andrianna Walraven (Thompson Ridge, N.Y./Pine Bush) batted .286 with two doubles, while drawing three walks in 14 at bats... Jessica Bergin (New Windsor, N.Y./Newburg Free Academy) drove in a team-high four runs on four hits, including two doubles... The Great Danes will return to action over the weekend at a tournament at Santa Clara.

Binghamton (2-2) finished second at the Stetson (Fla.) tournament this past weekend ... sophomore outfielder Jessica Phillips (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) hit a team-best .545 as the Bearcats during the weekend. She homered twice and had four RBI. Against Tennessee State on March 5, she went 3-for-3 with a double and a two-run homer. Phillips hit safely in the final three games of the weekend ... junior pitcher Kristen Emerling (Germantown, Tenn./Houston) tossed a complete-game shutout in Binghamton's 2-0 win over Elon on March 5. It was the second solo shutout of her career ... senior catcher Deannie Plemon (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge) knocked in a team-best five runs this past weekend. Against Elon on March 4, she belted a three-run home run ... sophomore outfielder Shannon Kane (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) had a four-hit game against Tennesse State on March 5. She ranked second on the team this past weekend with a .429 batting average.

Boston University's (3-3) weekend at the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic was cut short due to rain, however, it was able to get two games in on Friday as it fell to Kennesaw State, 5-4, and rebounded with a 4-1 victory over Mercer ... Junior Erica Casacci (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) had a fantastic two-game effort as she batted .571 with four hits, three runs, and one RBI ... Senior April Setterlund (Torrance, Calif./South Torrance) swung at a .500 clip with two hits and one RBI ... Meanwhile, freshman Holli Floetker (Fountain Valley, Calif./Ocean View) continues to make a strong impression as she pitched a complete-game effort vs. Mercer, surrendering just one run on one hit ... She struck out seven batters and issued just one walk ... BU will next travel to Tampa, Fla., where it will face Long Island, La Salle, CCSU, Robert Morris and Central Michigan at the USF Under Armour Showcase from March 11-13.

Under first-year head coach Diana Consolmagno, continues to gear up for the upcoming 2011 season with hopes of returning to the America East Conference tournament for the first time in three years ... Despite boasting a young roster with 10 freshmen and sophomores, the Hawks' four upperclassmen have stepped up to fill important leadership roles on the squad ... The Hawks return first-team all-conference honoree Nicole Springer (New Britain, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) who batted .325 last season as a rookie with 19 extra base hits and 34 runs ... For the first time since the 1992 season, the Hawks kick off their 2011 campaign in the Northeast with a doubleheader at Manhattan on Sunday, March 6 ... Hartford then plays host to Rhode Island for a single game on Wednesday, March 9 before heading to the Sunshine State for the Rebel Spring Games, a 12-game slate in Kissimmee, Fla.

Maine (7-12) went 4-5 over the past week in neutral site games and five games at the USF Invitational held in Clearwater, Fla ... Terren Hall (Bucksport, Maine) led the Maine offensive charge with a .346 week at the plate including walk-off singles to propel Maine to late inning victories over Western Michigan and St. Francis (Pa.) ... Hall had a huge day against Toledo as she drove in all six Maine runs with two home runs and a double in a 6-0 win for the Black Bears as she raised her overall average 12 points in the week going from .300 to .321. Hall now sits just three home runs of tying the school-record for career home runs which stands at 31 ... Kali Burnham (Courtice, Ontario) had a great week as she hit .360 but had her 7-game hit streak snapped with an 0-1 performance against Quinnipiac ... Beth Spoehr (Appleton, Wis.) picked up her first career complete game shutout victory when she shutout Toledo while striking out four and scattering four hits. Spoehr dropped her ERA over four points over the week as she also threw an inning of no-hit ball against #8 Michigan ... Maine returns to action with two more games in Florida beginning with a 2 p.m. start against Central Florida on March 7 before traveling to take part in the NC State Invitational.

UMBC (3-6) went 2-2 last week… The Retriever split a doubleheader at George Washington on Tuesday… UMBC pounded out 14 hits in an 8-5 victory in the first game… Senior second baseman Lauren Brummell (Hanover, Va./Hanover) went 3-for-5 with two RBI… Freshman pitcher Kayla Martinez (Odenton, Md./Arundel) earned her first career save by retiring all eight batters she faced… George Washington scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the nightcap, 4-2… Senior Julia Culotta (Street, Md./North Harford/Tennessee) went 3-for-3 with two RBI… She and Brummell were a combined 10-for-17 with five RBI in the doubleheader… UMBC dropped the first game of the Retriever Classic to Mount St. Mary’s, 9-0, but rebounded to defeat Siena, 6-1… Senior hurler Stephanie Weigman (Elkridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding) tossed a complete-game two-hitter… She earned both of UMBC’s victories on the week… Brummell went 4-for-4 with two runs and an RBI… The final day of the UMBC Retriever Classic was rained out… Brummell leads the Retrievers with a .419 average this season, while Culotta is batting .370 with a team-high seven RBI… Five Retrievers are batting .300 or better on the season, while UMBC is batting .280 as a team… The Retrievers host Delaware on Wednesday, then host the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational next weekend, where they will take on Drexel, Lafayette, Canisius, Brown and Morgan State.

Bernadette Tenuto led Stony Brook (2-7) with a .417 batting average over the weekend at the FAU Miken Classic in Boca Raton, Fla....the junior recorded an impressive .533 on-base percentage as well...Tenuto hit the Seawolves' first HR of the season against Harvard on Saturday, a two-run shot over the left-center field fence....Tenuto was 2/2 with 2 runs and 2 RBI in the game...On Sunday against South Carolina, Tenuto was the only Stony Brook player to record a hit, a single in the fourth inning...sophomore Samantha Rossi (Marlton, N.J.) and junior Suzanne Karath (Fishkill, N.Y.) posted .333 batting averages over the weekend...Stony Brook's 4-0 victory over Harvard was the Seawolves' second shutout of the season (Bucknell 1-0 on Feb. 26)...both of Stony Brook's wins have been shutouts...against Harvard, sophomore Taylor Chain (Gloucester, N.J.) pitched a complete-game shutout for her first victory of the season...Chain struck out three batters and scattered four hits in seven innings of work...Stony Brook is now 2-2 on Saturday and 0-5 on Friday/Sunday this season.
