Hartford 9, at Albany 8 -- Box Score

  • Hartford (7-3, 1-0 America East) went on a 5-0 run that stretched from the second quarter into the third to turn a 3-5 deficit into an 8-5 lead on the road at Albany (3-5, 0-1 AE).
  • Tonight's meeting marked the start of conference play for America East men's lacrosse in 2011.
  • With the win, Hartford ended an eight-game skid against the Great Danes.
  • Hartford held a 13-6 advantage in the face-off X and grabbed 41 ground balls while Albany picked up 30 ground balls.
  • Albany freshman keeper Edmund Cathers stopped 14 shots in 54:46 in the net while Hartford junior Frank Piechota went the distance, making 15 saves.
  • Hartford sophomore attack Jared Franze came off the bench to score two goals and dish out an assist.
  • Junior midfielders Carter Bender and Martin Bowes each scored a pair of goals for the Hawks' offense.
  • Freshman attack Miles Thompson led the Albany offense with three goals while senior midfielder Matt Johnson added two goals and an assist for three points.
