CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- America East On Campus, the
conference's 30-minute magazine show, closes out its sixth season with a review
of the 2010-11 basketball season and a look at America East's spring sports.
The latest episode will debut Thursday, March 31 at 3:30 p.m. on Comcast
SportsNet throughout New England.
From Stony Brook University's LaValle
Stadium, host Eric Frede opens the sixth season's final installment with a
recap of the 2011 America East Men's Basketball Championship. Frede showcases
the title game between No. 2 Boston U. and No. 5 Stony Brook, played at Boston
University's Agganis Arena. The segment also features the 2010-11 America East
first-team all-conference honorees. In the show's second segment, Frede focuses
on women's basketball, highlighting the championship game between No. 2 Boston
U. and No. 4 Hartford at Boston University's Case Gym and the women's first-team
all-conference selections.
Next, Frede looks ahead to the spring with a
profile of the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team. Coming off an NCAA quarterfinal
appearance in 2010, the Seawolves entered 2011 with a top-10 national ranking.
Now ranked No. 15/14, head coach Rick Sowell has his Seawolves poised to again
make a run in America East and to the NCAA tournament. The feature looks at the
program's recent exploits, which includes National Player of the Year and the
top pick in the Major League Lacrosse draft, senior midfielder Kevin Crowley in
addition to its national ranking.
In the episode's "Best of U" segment, Frede
highlights UMBC baseball pitcher Michael Pesci. Pesci, a junior, has succeeded
on the field for the Retrievers and in the community as the founder of Perfect
Pitch HRD, Inc. Perfect Pitch is a non-profit corporation that "raises money
and awareness for mentally and physically handicapped children and young
adults, and sports programs for disadvantaged youths." In the 10 years since
its inception, Perfect Pitch has raised over $200 thousand for its cause. In
2009, Pesci was recognized at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game as one of
People Magazine's "All-Stars Among
Us" for his work with Perfect Pitch.
The sixth season of On Campus concludes with
a highlight reel of the top plays from the 2010-11 America East basketball
season.
