Every gameday throughout the 2011 season, America East will provide a women's lacrosse update that  previews the day's matchups as well as recaps the previous day's action. The update will also provide links to live coverage, box scores and highlights of select games. Fans can also follow women's lacrosse action throughout the season at the America East Facebook page, Twitter account and YouTube page!

Saturday, March 19
UMBC at Mount St. Mary's, 1 p.m. -- Live Stats | Live Video

  • UMBC (5-2) returns to the field after a six-day layoff to take on in-state rival Mt. St. Mary's.
  • The Retrievers hold a 10-1 advantage in the all-time series with Mt. St. Mary's, including a 14-8 win when the teams last met in 2007.
  • UMBC has won its last two games, including a 20-6 win over Manhattan last Sunday. Nine different Retrievers scored a goal against the Jaspers.
  • Erika Braerman is tied for the team lead with 15 goals and leads the Retrievers with 12 assists and 27 points. The senior now has 51 career assists, ranking her seventh on the school's all-time assist leader board.


at Stony Brook vs. Iona, 1 p.m. -- Live Stats | Live Video

  • Stony Brook (2-4) tries to end a three-game skid as it host in-state foe Iona.
  • The Seawolves are 2-1 at home this season, topping Manhattan, 18-6, and Denver,11-7, at LaValle Stadium.
  • This is the first-ever meeting between Iona and Stony Brook.
  • The Seawolves are coming of a heartbreaking, 9-8 loss to Marist. The Red Foxes scored the gamewinner with 26 seconds remaining after Stony Brook had rallied from a four-goal deficit to tie the game.
  • Senior attack Melissa Cook leads the Seawolves with 18 goals on the season and now has 102 goals in her career.


Vermont at Marist, 1 p.m. -- Live Stats

  • Vermont (3-4) looks to pick up its fourth win in five games when it heads to Poughkeepsie to take on Marist.
  • The Catamounts have won their last two match ups with the Red Foxes, including a 14-7 win in Burlington last season.
  • Vermont is coming off a 16-9 win at Siena earlier in the week. The Catamounts jumped out to a 10-3 lead at the break against the Saints.
  • Freshman Sydney Mas has led the attack for the Catamounts with a team-high 18 goals and 22 points in just six games this season.


#17/15 Albany at #19/12 Massachusetts, 3 p.m. -- Live Stats | Live Video

  • Albany (5-0) travels to Amherst, Mass., for a a battle of unbeatens against nationally ranked UMass (6-0).
  • The Great Danes are out to the best start in the program's Division I history.
  • Albany boasts wins over apair of ranked foes in 2011, topping then-#16 Penn State, 8-7, and then -#20 Hofstra, 13-8, a week later.
  • Albany is 1-6 all-time against UMass, but won last season's meeting 14-7.
  • Albany has outshot its opponents, 180-71, this season. The Great Danes also hold a 140-53 edge in shots on goal and a 79-26 advantage in goals scored.
  • Senior attack Taylor Frink has notched 14 goals and a team-high 10 assists to lead the team with 24 points. Freshman midfielder Ariana Parker has tallied a team-high 17 goals.


Boston U. at Denver, 3 p.m. -- Live Stats | Live Video

  • Boston U. (3-3) heads west to Denver to take on the Pioneers and former Terrier head coach Liza Kelly, who led the Terriers from 2002-2006.
  • The Terriers are looking to get back to their winning ways after a 5-14 loss at #14/19 Notre Dame last Tuesday.
  • Senior attack Erica Baumgartner leads the Terriers with nine assists this season. She has 98 assists in her career.
  • Sophomore attack Danielle Etrasco holds team highs in goals with 16 and points with 22. Etrasco has also dished out six assists.

Friday, March 18
New Hampshire 20, Presbyterian 4 (at Marietta, Ga.) -- Box Score

  • New Hampshire (5-3) rattled off a 12-0 run that bridged the first and second half, opening up a 16-1 lead over Presbyterian.
  • The Wildcats fired off 38 total shots, including 31 on goal, while holding the Blue Hose to 16 total shots and 12 shots on goal.
  • New Hampshire caused 17 turnovers on the afternoon. Presbyterian turned the ball over a total of 28 times.
  • Midfielder Amber Casiano led the Wildcat attack with six points on four goals and two assists. The sophomore also posted three draw controls and a ground ball.
  • Junior midfielder Kate Keagins tallied three goals while also racking up six ground balls and six caused turnovers.

Wednesday, March 16
Vermont 16, at Siena 9 -- Box Score

  • Vermont (3-4) raced out to a 10-3 lead at the half and held off host Siena after the break to earn its third win in four games.
  • The Catamounts fired off 24 shots, including 18 shots on goal in the first half, while also converting 5-of-7 free-position shots. Siena attempted only 10 shots, nine on goal, and missed its lone free-position attempt.
  • For the game, Vermont won 17 of 27 draw controls and committed just 16 fouls compared to 27 whistles against Siena.
  • Freshman attack Sydney Mas led the way for the Catamounts with five total points on four goals and an assist.
  • Sophomore midfielder Emma Kelly added three goals while junior attack Allison Pfohl and junior midfielder Adison Rounds each posted two goals and an assist.


at #12 Vanderbilt 11, New Hampshire 6 -- Box Score

  • New Hampshire could not get its offense working as it ended its three-game win streak with a loss at Vanderbilt.
  • Vanderbilt scored the first five goals of the game and opened up an 7-3 lead at the break.
  • New Hampshire attempted just 13 total shots, 11 of which were on goal, while Vanderbilt racked up 32 shot attempts with 18 shots on goal.
  • The Wildcats gave the ball away 24 times while Vanderbilt committed just 18 turnovers. This was the first game this season that New Hampshire committed more turnovers than its opponent.
  • Sophomore attack Jenny Simpson was the only Wildcat with more than one goal as she netted a pair of goals.
  • Midfielders Kate Keagins and Amber Casiano each posted two points on one assist and one goal.


at Marist 9, Stony Brook 8 --  Box Score

  • Marist scored a goal with just 26 seconds remaining on the clock to break an 8-8 tie and hand Stony Brook (2-4) the loss.
  • Prior to the gamewinner, Stony Brook stormed back from an 8-4 deficit with four goals in less than 15 minutes to tie the game at 8-8.
  • Marist held a slight edge in shot attempts, 21-19, and shots on goal, 16-14.
  • The Seawolves committed 20 fouls on the afternoon while Marist committed just 10 fouls in the game.
  • Senior midfielders Melissa Cook and Victoria Cable each scored three goals to lead the Seawolves' offense.
  • Junior attack Abby Ford dished out a game-high three helpers, one more assist than the entire Marist team.

 

Tuesday, March 15

t No.14/19 Notre Dame 14, Boston University 5- Box Score

  • Boston University saw its two-game winning streak come to an end with a 14-5 loss at No. 14/19 Notre Dame.
  • Sophomore attack Danielle Etrasco netted her team-high 16th goal of the season and also controlled a draw in the win.
  • Junior attack Molly Swain led the way for the Terriers, as she netted a goal and dished out an assist for a team-high two points.
