When the Boston University Terriers take the court on Friday
at 6:50 p.m. in Tulsa, Oklahoma, it will mark their first appearance in the
NCAA Tournament since 2002. While a handful of talented players have come
through the program in that time since its last appearance, this team utilized
the right balance of young talent and veteran leadership to win 11 consecutive
games to close out the season.
Despite the tough start to the season, the Terriers
continued to take on the personality of head coach Pat Chambers and kept a
positive and committed attitude throughout a 5-9 record in the non-conference
schedule. Since taking over as head coach at Boston U. prior to last season,
Chambers has instilled a family-like atmosphere around the program, which has
been on full display during the recent winning streak.
The hope for the Terriers is that this culture surrounding
the program is just at its beginning stage and that this matchup in the second
round of the NCAA Tournament against No. 1 seed Kansas is just a springboard to
continued success. The following video includes interviews with Pat Chambers
and Director of Athletics Mike Lynch as they discuss the progress the Boston
University program has made over the last two years.
