CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- America East On Campus, the
conference's 30-minute magazine show, takes a closer look at the America East winter
championships in the fifth episode of the sixth season.
The latest episode will air Tuesday, March 1 at 3 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet
throughout New England.
With the University of Hartford's Chase Family Arena as
the backdrop, host Eric Frede opens up with a look ahead at the upcoming
America East Men's and Women's Basketball Championship. The championship,
presented by Newman's Own, will be held on the campus of the University of
Hartford March 3-6. Frede speaks with AETV basketball analysts Frank Sullivan
and Leah Secondo about the top teams, players and potential surprises of the
upcoming tournament.
Frede also takes a look back at the America
East Swimming and Diving Championship, hosted by UMBC at the Germantown Indoor
Swim Center, and the America East Indoor Track and Field Championship, hosted
by Boston University at the Boston U. Track and Tennis Center. UMBC won both
the men's and women's titles in swimming and diving while University at Albany
swept the men's and women's crowns in indoor track and field.
Next, Frede profiles UMBC junior guard Michelle Kurowski
as part of the "Best of U" series. In addition to leading the Retrievers to
their first America East regular-season title in women's basketball, Kurowski
has also excelled in the classroom. The junior from Hicksville,N.Y., is set to
earn her bachelor's degree in psychology after just three years and will pursue
a master's degree in early childhood education at UMBC.
Finally, Frede sits down with University of Maine
distance runner Riley Masters. As a junior, Masters has already won the America
East cross country championship, taken first place in the 3,000-meter run at
the indoor championship by a margin of more than five seconds and has run a
sub-four-minute mile. The Bangor, Maine native talks about his athletic
development in high school and in college as well as how he plans to challenge
himself as a runner in the future.
