CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- For the third time in his illustrious career, Stony Brook's Kevin Crowley (New Westminster, British Columbia/New Westminster) is the America East men's lacrosse Player of the Week while Vermont's Conner McNamara (Winchester, Mass./Brewster Academy) picked up his first career Rookie of the Week honor. The awards for the week ending Feb. 27 were announced Monday afternoon.

Crowley, the reigning America East Player of the Year, picked up where he left off last season by tallying four goals and an assist in Stony Brook's near upset of top-ranked Virginia Saturday. Crowley, the nation's active leading scorer with 181 career points and a finalist for the Tewaraaton Award last season, scored his team's first two goals of the game and helped force overtime by scoring with 21 seconds left to draw the Seawolves within one. He also picked up three ground balls in the 11-10 overtime loss.

McNamara (Winchester, Mass./Brewster Academy) scored a pair of goals in each of his first two games as a collegian last week. A freshman attack, McNamara scored twice in Vermont's 9-6 win at Air Force Friday and capped off the Catamounts' 7-0 run with a score early in the fourth quarter. He followed that performance with two goals in an 11-6 defeat to No. 16/17 Denver Sunday. McNamara also picked up a pair of ground balls for the Catamounts, whose 2-0 start was their first since the 2007 season.

Stony Brook, which began the season ranked fifth in the country, fell two spots in the USILA Coaches' poll and one notch in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and is now ranked seventh in both polls. The Seawolves nearly knocked off #1/2 Virginia as they forced overtime with the Cavaliers before falling, 11-10, in overtime Saturday.
