gameday throughout the 2011 season, America East will provide a men's
lacrosse update that previews the day's matchups as well as recaps the
previous day's action. The update will also provide links to live
coverage, box scores and highlights of select games. Fans can also

Vermont at #16/17 Denver, 2 p.m. -- Live Stats | Live Video
- With a win at #16/17 Denver Sunday, Vermont (2-0) will have its first 3-0 start since the 2001 season.
- The Catamounts are 1-3 all-time against the Pioneers but won the last meeting, 9-8, in 2007.
- Vermont has allowed just 10 games in its first two games, posting wins over Colgate (9-4) and Air Force (9-6).
- Sophomore Drew Philie, last year's America East Rookie of the Year, leads the 'Cats with five goals through two games.

Hartford 12, at Holy Cross 7 -- Box Score
- Hartford (1-1) attempted 41 shots and put 25 shots on goal as it earned its first win of the 2011 campaign.
- The Hawks limited Holy Cross to a total of 26 shots and 15 shots on goal.
- Hartford held a 36-23 advantage in ground balls.
- Senior Tim Fallon controlled 15-of-22 faceoffs for the Hawks. Fallon also picked up seven ground balls.
- Junior attack Aidan Genik three goals and also added an assist to lead the Hawks offensively.
- Sophomore midfielder Jared Franze and junior attack Ryan Compitello scored three goals apiece.
#1 Virginia 11, at #5 Stony Brook 10 (OT) -- Box Score
- Stony Brook
junior midfielder Russ Bonanno scored an unassisted goal with three
seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime, but Virginia
countered in the extra period with a game-winning goal from Steele
Stanwick.
- Stony Brook (0-1) scored two goals in the final 21 seconds of regulation and tallied six goals in the fourth quarter.
- Senior Adam
Rand controlled the face-off X, taking 17-of-26 face offs. Rand also
picked up seven of the Seawolves' 34 ground balls.
- Senior midfielder Kevin Crowley scored four goals and added an assist and three ground balls to lead the Seawolves.
- Senior attack Brett Drost scored three goals to go along with one assist while senior midfielder Timmy Trenkle added two goals.
at #20 Drexel 14, Albany 7 -- Box Score
- Albany (0-1)
went without a goal for more than 26 minutes from the second quarter
into the fourth quarter as Drexel opened up a 13-5 lead in the final
period.
- Albany led the Dragons, 4-1, with 3:56 remaining in the first quarter.
- Drexel outshot the Great Danes, 38-26, and held a 26-21 advantage in shots on goal.
- Albany controlled just five of 23 face offs.
- Junior attack Joe Resetarits scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Great Danes offensively.
at Lafayette 12, Binghamton 6 -- Box Score
- Binghamton (0-2) did not score for more than 36 minutes while Lafayette went on a 7-0 run to lead 11-4 into the fourth quarter.
- The Bearcats put 23 shots on net, but Lafayette keeper Andrijko Andrusko made 17 saves.
- Binghamton sophomore attack Matt Springer led the offense with three goals on five shots.
- Junior defender Ryan Button led the Bearcats as he picked up five ground balls.
Rutgers 12, at UMBC 5 -- Box Score
- UMBC (1-1) scored just once in the first half as the Retrievers trailed, 6-1, at the break.
- Rutgers picked up 33 ground balls, including 23 in the second half, while UMBC grabbed just 21 ground balls.
- Rutgers outshot the Retrievers, 30-26, and held an 18-9 edge in shots on goal.
- Sophomore
midfielder Neill Lewnes and redshirt-freshman attack Matt Gregoire each
scored one goal and picked up two ground balls. No Retriever scored more
than one goal.
Friday, February 25
Vermont 9, at Air Force 6 -- Box Score
- Vermont
(2-0) held Air Force to six goals and has allowed just 10 total goals in
two games this season. The last time the Catamounts allowed 10 or fewer
goals over a two-game span was March 2006 when it beat St. Michael's,
14-4, and Holy Cross, 12-5.
- Vermont outshot Air Force, 29-24, and held an advantage in shots on goal, 16-13.
- Catamount
freshman midfielder Ahmad Zachary scored a pair of goals on only two
shot attempts and also added an assist in just his second collegiate
game.
- Freshman
attack Connor McNamara also scored two goals of the bench while senior
midfielder Kyle Sminky led Vermont with two assists.
