gameday throughout the 2011 season, America East will provide a men's
lacrosse update that previews the day's matchups as well as recaps the
previous day's action. The update will also provide links to live
coverage, box scores and highlights of select games. Fans can also

Wednesday, February 23
Siena at Albany 2 p.m. l Live Stats l
- The Great Danes, who were picked second in the preseason poll, begin the 2011 campaign with their crosstown rivals. Albany is the defending regular-season champion.
- Albany is under new leadership this season with first-year head coach John Battaglino. He was promoted to head coach in August and hired Syracuse letterwinners Jessica Davos and Katie Rowan as assistants.
- Albany senior Nikki Branchini returns as the reigning America East Player of the Year, the defender was third nationally with 4.93 draw controls per game, sixth with 3.27 ground balls per game and ninth with 2.07 caused turnovers per game.

- The Terriers begin their title-defense in 2011 when they host the Minutewomen in their season-opener. Boston U. returns 14 players from last year's team which won its sixth-straight America East Championship.
- This is the eighth-straight season that Boston U. opens the season with UMass. Terriers are 7-10 all-time against their intrastate rivals, but 3-1 against the Minutewomen under fifth-year head coach Liz Robertshaw.
- Senior attack Erica Baumgartner is back after missing the 2010 season with an injury. Baumgartner led America East in assists during the 2009 season with 39 helpers.
New Hampshire at Holy Cross 4 p.m. l Live Stats l
- The Wildcats begin the season with Holy Cross for the fifth time in seven years. UNH has won the season opener in each of the last two seasons.
- New Hampshire returns fourteen players, including 10 starters, from last year's team, however, it returns just one senior in captain Allie Duclos. Duclos is a three-time First-Team All-Conference selection.
- UNH returns both of its goalkeepers in junior Kate Gunts and sophomore Kathleen O'Keefe. Like last year, they will likely split time between the pipes.

- The Retrievers head out on the road to sunny Florida after opening the season nearly two weeks ago at home with a 19-7 win over George Mason. In that victory, Erika Braerman scored a career-high eight points on five goals and three assists.
- The Gators are ranked #17 nationally in both the IWLCA Coaches' Poll and the DeBeer Media Poll. They are 2-1 on the season. This will be the first meeting between UMBC and Florida, who is in just its second season of varsity status.
- Senior Amanda Pappas has scored a point in 12 straight games dating back to February 27, 2010. She scored three goals and notched an assist coming off the bench in the season-opener against George Mason.

overcome an early deficit, as it fell 18-4 at Louisville.

The Bearcats were led on the offensive end by
junior attacker Lis Zuern, who scored all four goals in the loss.

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Scott was excellent in
the net, as she made 17 saves.

On the defensive end, senior defender Siobhan
Menz led the way with a team-high five ground balls.
