DURHAM, N.H. -- Old New England rivals Maine and New Hampshire square off in men's basketball for the 176th time in an America East TV contest Tuesday. The two teams are trending in opposite directions with Maine having dropped six in a row and UNH posting wins in three of its last four league contests to form a three-way tie for fifth place in the league standings.
The Black Bears and Wildcats will tip off at 7 p.m. from Lundholm Gym. The
game will be
televised on Comcast SportsNet for those in the New England with Eric Frede
(play-by-play) and Frank Sullivan (analyst) on the call. All season
long, games will also be on ESPN Full Court, ESPN3.com (subject to
local blackout) and streamed for free at AmericaEast.com.
Maine (14-13, 8-6 AE) can lock up third place in the league standings with a win. Maine, which leads America East in scoring (69.8 ppg) was outscored by Siena, 43-27, after halftime and fell on the road Saturday. Troy Barnies scored a team-high 14 points and added nine rebounds. He ranks eighth among league leaders in scoring (14.4 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (7.8 rpg).
Despite a pair of key injuries, New Hampshire (12-15, 6-8 AE) has won four of its last six America East contests to rise to the middle of the pack in the standings.
