Vermont Falls At Massachusetts In Season Opener

Binghamton at Louisville

  • The Bearcats are on the road for their season opener. Louisville defeated Binghamton in Vestal last year, 19-8.
  • Senior midfielder Beth Moore returns for the Bearcats this season after leading the team with 39 goals and 37 ground balls.
  • Senior defender Siobhan Menz was a member of the all-conference second team last season. She led the team with 25 draw controls in 2010 and should be a force again in 2011.

  • The Catamounts dropped their season opener on the road. Despite the loss, Vermont outshot UMass, 30-27, and held the 16-12 edge in draw controls in the game.
  • Vermont tried to make a late comeback, scoring three of the game's final four goals, but the effort came up short.
  • Vermont's Samantha Stern and Natalie Jones each had two goals. Jones also added an assist.
  • Megan MacDonald finished with two ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover for the Catamounts in the midfield
