Every gameday throughout the 2010 season, America East will provide a women's lacrosse update that  previews the day's matchups as well as recaps the previous day's action. The update will also provide links to live coverage, box scores and highlights of select games. Wednesday, February 16
at Stony Brook 18, Manhattan 6 -- Box Score

  • Stony Brook (1-1) scored the first three goals of the game within six minutes of the opening whistle. The Seawolves never trailed in their rout of the Jaspers.
  • The Seawolves outshot the Jaspers, 28-11, and held a 25-8 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Six different Seawolves scored at least two goals. Senior midfielder Melissa Cook led the way with four goals. Cook's four goals give her 92 career tallies and ties her for fourth in Stony Brook history in goals scored with Carlee Buck (2004-07).
  • Freshman attack Alyssa Cardillo scored a the game's opening goal and followed that with five assists. After two games at the collegiate level, Cardillo already has three goals and eight assists.

 

Saturday, February 12
at Colgate 17, Stony Brook 15 -- Box Score

  • Stony Brook (0-1) dropped its season opener to Colgate for the tird straight season. The last time the Seawolves opened their schedule with a win was in 2008, with an 18-14 victory over Colgate.
  • Stony Brook was outshot by Colgate, 29-22. Colgate also held a 25-19 advantage in shots on goal.
  • The Seawolves converted on just 14 of their 23 clear attempts.
  • Stony Brook seniors Melissa Cook and Samantha Dhaja each scored four goals. The pair were the leading scorers for the Seawolves in 2010 as Cook scored 37 points (29 g, 8 a) and Dhaja scored 28 points (22 g, 6 a).
  • Freshman attack Alyssa Cardillo added two goals and three assists in her Stony Brook debut.
  • Senior keeper Mickey Cahill made eight saves on the afternoon.

 

Friday, February 11
at UMBC 19,
George Mason 7 -- Box Score       

  • George Mason scored the first goal of the game, but UMBC (1-0) quickly came back, scoring the game's next 11 goals in a span of 17:13 in the first half. 
  • The Retrievers outshot the Patriots, 31-12.
  • UMBC held a 44-21 edge in foul calls.
  • Four different Retrievers scored at least three goals, led by senior attack Erika Braerman, who scored five goals on only five shot attempts to go along with three assists. Braerman was the only Retriever with multiple goals and assists.
  • Junior midfielder Alicia Krause scored four goals while notching three ground balls and three draw controls.
  • Senior midfielder Amanda Pappas and junior attack Emily Coady each added three goals.
