In the only home game for an America East squad Wednesday, Hartford and Hofstra will go head-to-head on CPTV Sports at 7p. The Hawks (5-3) continue with a difficult schedule, ranked as one of the top 50 toughest slates by RPIRatings.com, with the Pride who stand at 6-1 on the season. Hofstra, a former league member, won last year's contest on Long Island.
Boston U. and Vermont both play 5 p.m. games on the road against Ivy teams Yale and Brown, respectively.
America East teams went 3-2 last night with Binghamton, UMBC and Albany picking up the wins. For the Retrievers, it was the second game game of a stretch where they'll play four games in eight days. UMBC's win over UMES, 65-60, also snapped a two-game losing skid. Senior forward Erin Brown netted a game-high 24 points in the victory.
Albany (5-4), playing in its last game until December 18, defeated Niagara in convincing fashion at SEFCU Arena, 55-42. Binghamton hung on at Army to pick up a 49-47 win and improve to 5-3.
UNH's Cari Reed exploded for 32 points in a loss to Harvard. She hit a school-record eight three-pointers, and the most by an America East player since Binghamton's Erica Carter on Dec. 7, 2009.
