Binghamton, Stony Brook and Vermont all host games on Friday in their final tuneups before conference play kicks off on Monday.
The Catamounts go for their third straight win when former America East rival Northeastern visits Patrick Gym for a 4:30 contest. UVM is coming off a win at Towson on Dec. 22, in which Luke Apfeld scored a career-high 24 points on perfect 11-of-11 shooting from the field. He ranks 16th among league leaders averaging 11.5 points per game. The Catamounts are again one of the top defensive teams in the league, holding opponents to 62.8 points per game and are limiting foes to 43 percent shooting.
The Bearcats hope to snap their 11 game losing skid against Manhattan at 7 p.m. at the Events Center, where they are drawing a league-best 3,120 fans per game. The contest will be televised locally on Time Warner Sports. Binghamton has two scorers ranked among the league's top 10. Freshman Ben
Dickinson is one of just three players to rank in the conference's top
10 in both scoring (6th - 13.8 ppg) and rebounding (T9th - 6.0 rpg). He
is also the lone freshman to currently lead his team in scoring. Robert Mansell ranks eighth among league leaders averaging 13.3 ppg.
The Seawolves put their perfect home record on the line against Rider at 7 p.m. Stony Brook is 4-0 at Pritchard Gym this season and 29-15 there all-time. Bryan Dougher and Ron Bracey each had 16 points as Stony Brook outscored Cornell 17-8 in overtime to win for the first time in three games on Wednesday. Dougher ranks ninth among league leaders averaging 13.2 ppg. Defense is the key for the Seawolves. They are giving up just 49.3 points per game in wins this season, compared with 73 points per game in losses.
