Thursday is a busy day for America East women's basketball teams; Eight of nine teams are in action, the most since all nine squads hit the court on opening day Nov. 11.
UMBC dropped its first game of the Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Classic to High Point 62-51 Wednesday and will face host Virgina Tech on Thursday. Erin Brown had a career-high 14 rebounds and Michelle Kurowski tallied a team-high 15 points in the loss.
Hartford, who remained #15 in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll this week, hosts Harvard tonight in the Hawks' final non-league game at Chase Arena. One of Hartford 's two leading scorers Ruthanne Doherty (14.2 ppg) and Daphne Elliott (11.3 ppg) have paced the Hawks in scoring in 10 of the team's 12 games.
Also on a familiar court tonight, Maine finishes the non-conference slate at home against Siena looking to snap a six-game slide. America East teams are 2-0 against the Saints this season.
Boston U., Vermont, Albany, Binghamton and New Hampshire are all on the road at respective holiday tournaments.
