UMBC Plays High Point In VaTech's Hokie Classic

UMBC returns from the holiday with wins in three of its last four games. Facing High Point in the first round of Virginia Tech's Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Classic on Wednesday, UMBC will face the Panthers for the first time in program history.

The Retrievers will face with Cincinnati out of the Big East or Virginia Tech of the ACC on Thursday.

Stony Brook earned its first back-to-back wins of the season last night with a 54-47 victory over Youngstown State at home. Dani Klupenger came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points, including three treys.

In news this week, Hartford remains #15 in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, while UMBC is receiving votes with 21 nods. Boston U. is hanging with one vote received.

America East ranks 11th of 33 leagues in the latest RPI Report. Hartford is 28th and UMBC ranks 93rd to give America East two top-100 teams. The RPI Report most closely resembles the NCAA RPI used for selections.
