Men's Hoops Heads into Holiday Break with Three Wins Friday

America East men's basketball will head into a four-day holiday break on a high note as all three teams in action Friday posted victories. Albany, Maine and Vermont all grew its wins streaks and combined to go 7-0 for the week.

The Great Danes, who have won back-to-back games and five of their last seven, beat Dartmouth, 82-74, at SEFCU Arena. Albany is 4-0 at home this season and has won seven straight games their dating back to last season. Gerardo Suero scored 23 points and Mike Black added 20 points, five rebounds and seven assists.

The Black Bears beat Brown, 71-58, their third straight victory, all coming in a five-day stretch. Maine outscored the Bears 42-28 en route to the win and improved to 6-4 on the season. Justin Edwards and Alasdair Fraser each contributed 17 points and eight rebounds. Raheem Singleton provided a spark off the bench with 11 points.

The Catamounts won their second straight, beating former America East rival Towson, 65-49. Vermont shot 51 percent from the floor and held the Tigers to a 38 percent mark. Luke scored a career-high 24 points on perfect 11-of-11 shooting from the field. Brendan Bald added 15 points while Brian Voelkel had four points, eight rebounds and 11 assists.

Action resumes Wednesday, December 28 with Albany, Binghamton, UMBC and Stony Brook in action.
