UMBC Goes for Second Straight Win Against Morgan State Wednesday

UMBC will go for its second straight win when MEAC preseason favorite Morgan State visits RAC Arena on Wednesday in the lone America East game of the day.

The Retrievers earned their first win of 2011-12 and helped America East improve to 4-2 against CAA teams this year with a 62-58 win over Towson Saturday. UMBC outscored the Tigers 10-4 in the final 2:32 and made 10-of-12 free throws down the stretch. Ryan Cook scored a team-high 17 points and nailed a pair of free throws with 1:41 left to give his team the lead for good. Chase Plummer added a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. He ranks 10th in scoring (13.6 ppg) and second in rebounding (8.3 rpg).

On Tuesday, Boston U. led Villanova at the half, 26-23, but got outscored, 45-17, after the break and dropped a 68-43 decision to the Wildcats. D.J. Irving tallied a team-high 11 points.
