INDIANAPOLIS -- For the first time since 2000, an America East team will host an NCAA women's soccer tournament game when Boston University hosts Harvard in first-round action on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Nickerson Field.
The Terriers, who will be home during the NCAAs for the first time in school history, are making their seventh straight NCAA appearance. Boston U., which is seeking its first NCAA win since 2005, learned its fate during the NCAA selection show on NCAA.com this afternoon.
Boston U. (18-2-1), which is ranked 13th nationally, and set a program record for wins in a season, captured its fifth straight America East title with a 2-0 win over Albany on Saturday. Jessica Luscinski and Madison Clemens scored first-half goals for the Terriers, who have won 13 straight games. Angelina Cords helped hold the Great Danes to just four shots and earned the championship's Most Outstanding Player honor.
The Terriers handed Harvard (12-4-1), the Ivy League champion, one of its four defeats, posting a 3-0 win on Sept. 14. Kylie Strom scored twice while Kai Miller added a goal for Boston U., which has outscored opponents 51-11 this season.
Hartford was the last America East team to host an NCAA game. The Hawks had home games for three straight years (1998-2000), including in 1999 when they advanced to the quarterfinal round.
The winner of the Boston U.-Harvard contest will face either Wake Forest or Oakland in the second round on Friday, Nov. 18.
