Albany returned home to SEFCU Arena after a pair of road swings to the midwest and a trip to Rhode Island in between. The Great Danes responded well being back in the Capital Region, earning a 50-34 win over St. Francis (NY) led by junior Ebone Henry's team-high 11 points. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year also collected eight steals on the afternoon.
The Great Danes held St. Francis scoreless in the final eight minutes of the game. Head Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson attributed a lot of that defensive pressure to 6-foot-8 freshman Megan Craig's first game of the season.
"It was an overall
team effort," said Abrahamson-Henderson, whose team
improved to 3-3. "We played a lot of people, we knew we had to keep
everyone fresh. Megan (Craig) is such a presence defensively. Once they
got inside, she is there to block the shot, so that forced them to the
outside."
