TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Stony Brook’s Hayley Green (Wellington, New Zealand/Victoria University) clocked in at 20:24.3 on the 6,000-meter course for a 33rd-place finish at the 2011 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship this afternoon in Terre Haute, Ind.
Green’s effort earned her All-American status making her the third Seawolf to accomplish such feat in the last two seasons. She is also the fifth America East women’s runner to be named All-American in the last five years. All-American honors were awarded to those individuals finishing in the top 40 overall.
Green improved on her 72nd-place finish a year ago and was the only America East runner – male or female – to compete in this year’s national championship.
The All-American status marks the end to a very successful senior season for Green. She captured first place at the Stony Brook Season Opener and at the 2011 America East Championship before finishing fourth at the Northeast Regional in Buffalo last weekend earning all-region honors.
