Binghamton won the consolation game of Minnesota's SUBWAY Classic, defeating Nevada 58-52. Senior guard Orla O'Reilly once again led the team in scoring with 19 points and now tops the confernce with 18.5 points per game. She scored five of her points in the final 30 seconds to help the Bearcats hang on to their third win of the season. Classmate Viive Rebane posted her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The
Catamounts won their own TD Bank Classic for the first time since 2007
with arguably the team's most impressive win of the season. Vermont
rolled early against Saint Joseph's and defeated the Hawks 80-67. It was
the team's season-high for points scored led by rooke Niki Taylor's 15
points.
"I'm so proud of our team. They work so hard and they deserve to feel
this. You can see the effort on the floor and how hard they work and
how much they love playing together. I think all of our hard work in
practice is starting to pay off," said Vermont head coach Lori Gear McBride.
In
Catonsville Saturday night, UMBC gave No. 9 Maryland just about everything the Terps
could handle, but fell 70-59. It was the lowest margin of victory for
Maryland this season, and the Retrievers had cut the deficit down to
three points several times. Seniors Erin Brown and Michelle Kurowski
each tallied 14 points.
