Sam Simononis and Lauren Buschmann led Vermont to its third straight win last night on the first day of the TD Bank Classic. Simononis scored a career-best 13 points, while Buschmann continued her strong play with a double-double in the 61-49 victory. Through the first three games of the season, Vermont has held opponents to just 49.7 points per game. The Catamounts will likely face their toughest test of the season tonight when they take on Saint Joseph's out of the A-10, 85-48 winners over Dartmouth earlier in the day Friday.
Three home contests and two road games are slated for Saturday's action. Maine will host its first women's basketball game in "The Pit" since 1993 and hope to put together its first win streak of the season when it plays Bryant. UMBC is also at home in the friendly confines of the RAC, hosting ninth-ranked Maryland.
Binghamton junior foward Kara Elofson, a native of Minneapolis, is home bound when the Bearcats are at Minnesota's Subway Classic. Binghamton will face the hosts Saturday afternoon, then will play either Nevada or North Dakota State on Sunday.
Albany will be on the road again after arriving home from Iowa earlier this week, heading to Providence to take on Brown tonight.
