Two more America East teams open their 2011-12 seasons on Saturday and another plays its second game in just over 24 hours.

Binghamton hosts Colgate in its opener at 7 p.m. The Bearcats look to begin 2011-12 as they did 2010-11, with a win  over the Red Raiders. Sophomore Alex Ogundadegbe had nine points off the bench in the 62-60 win last Nov. 13.

Coming off a season in which they won their fifth regular-season title in 10 years, Vermont opens 2011-12 at South Florida at 7 p.m. The game will be the head coaching debut of John Becker, who was promoted after serving as a Vermont assistant for the last five years.

Hartford, which began its season with a 70-50 loss to Sacred Heart in the Connecticut 6 Classic Friday, has a quick turnaround as it will play at Penn State at 4:30 p.m. The Hawks, who reached the semifinals of the America East Championship last season, will face the coach that ousted them from the tournament as former Boston U. mentor Pat Chambers now leads the Nittany Lions.

Five other America East teams opened play last night. New Hampshire downed Suffolk, 85-64 behind 19 points from Alvin Abreu in his return from injury. Boston U., which raised its 2010-11 America East Championship banner prior to its game with Northeastern, fell to the Huskies, 84-72 in overtime. Albany, UMBC and Stony Brook all also dropped its openers to Pittsburgh, Indiana and Penn, respectively.
