Seven Seniors Selected for NFHCA Senior Game

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Seven America East field hockey student-athletes representing five different schools are among those seniors invited to particpate in the 2011 National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior Game. This year's Senior Game will be held at the University of Louisville on Sat., Nov. 19 in conjunction with the NCAA Final Four.

The league's seven selections rank second in the country only behind the Colonial Athletic Association's eight invitees.

University of New Hampshire and University of Maine each have two seniors on the invitation list. Forward Whitney Frates and back Kyle Lyons represent the Wildcats, while midfielder Stephanie Gardiner and forward Kelly Newton are the Black Bears' representatives.

Boston University midfielder Kate Murphy, University at Albany forward Christina Patrick and Fairfield University forward Marit Westenberg round out America East's selections.

The 2011 America East Field Hockey Championship hosted by New Hampshire begins with semifinal action on Fri., Nov. 4. The champion, which will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, will be crowned on Sun., Nov. 6.
