Hartford opens its 2011 conference schedule while Maine looks to go to 2-0 when the two teams meet Wednesday in Orono.
- The Hawks hold a 30-27 all-time advantage in the series, but the Black Bears have taken the last two meetings, including a 66-52 decision in Orono last season.
- Maine has won five of its last six games, including a 65-52 win over Boston U. in its conference opener Sunday, the Black Bears' first win in a league opener since 2004.
- The Hawks snapped a five-game losing skid with an 82-74 win over St. Francis (N.Y.) Monday. Morgan Sabia tallied career highs of 27 points and 17 rebounds in the win.

Vermont (10-3, 1-0 America East) used a stifling
defensive performance to limit Stony Brook (6-7, 1-1 America East) to only 32.7
percent shooting from the field in its 55-49 victory.

Senior forward Evan Fjeld led the Catamounts
with a team-high 17 points and six boards. Freshman forward Brian Voelkel added
11 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for the double-double.

The Seawolves were led by sophomore guard Marcus
Rouse, who scored a career-high 19 points in 35 minutes of action.

Vermont returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 6
when it hosts Albany. Stony Brook heads out on the road for a nonconference
matchup with Cornell on Saturday, Jan. 8.
At Boston University 61, New Hampshire 54- Box Score

Boston University (6-10, 1-1 America East) used
a game-high 20 points from senior guard John Holland to knock off New Hampshire
(6-8, 0-2 America East), 61-54.

Junior forward Patrick Hazel scored eight points, blocked six shots
and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to lead the Terriers on the defensive end.

New Hampshire senior guard Tyrone Conley scored
14 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out a team-high four assists in
the loss. Freshman guard Scott Morris added 14 points off the bench.

Boston University closes out its two-game
homestand when it hosts Vermont on Sunday, Jan. 9. New Hampshire begins a
two-game homestand with a visit from Binghamton on Saturday, Jan. 8.

at Hartford 82, St. Francis (NY) 74 -- Box Score
- Senior
forward Morgan Sabia set career highs with 27 points and 17 rebounds to
lead Hartford (3-10) to a win in its final non-conference game of the
season. Sabia also added four assists.
- Hartford
attempted a season-high 40 free throws, making 27, also a season high.
St. Francis (NY) went 18-for-23 from the charity stripe.
- The Hawks had their best shooting night of the season, connecting on 49.0 percent (24-of-49) of their attempts from the field.
- Senior guard Milton Burton poured in 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Guard Joe Zeglinski added 10 points.
