Monday, January 3
at Hartford 82, St. Francis (NY) 74 -- Box Score
- Senior forward Morgan Sabia set career highs with 27 points and 17 rebounds to lead Hartford (3-10) to a win in its final non-conference game of the season. Sabia also added four assists.
- Hartford attempted a season-high 40 free throws, making 27, also a season high. St. Francis (NY) went 18-for-23 from the charity stripe.
- The Hawks had their best shooting night of the season, connecting on 49.0 percent (24-of-49) of their attempts from the field.
- Senior guard Milton Burton poured in 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Guard Joe Zeglinski added 10 points.
Sunday, January 2
at Maine 65, Boston U. 52 -- Box Score
- Maine
(7-6, 1-0 in America East) held Boston U. (5-10, 0-1 AE) to just 25
percent shooting in the first half and 32 percent for the game.
- The Black Bears outrebounded the Terriers, 39-29, including 13-10 on the offensive glass.
- Maine
junior guard Gerald McLemore scored 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting.
Sennior forward Troy Barnies added 14 points and grabbed a game-high
nine rebounds while senior guard Terrance Mitchell scored 15 points off
the bench.
- The Maine bench outscored the Boston U. bench, 23-6.
- Junior guard Darryl Partin scored 20 points for the Terriers. Junior center Jeff Pelage grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
at Albany 59, New Hampshire 44 -- Box Score
- Albany
(8-8, 1-0 AE) shot 51.2 percent from the field while holding New
Hampshire (6-7, 0-1 AE) to 30.2 percent shooting on its field goal
attempts.
- New Hampshire went 8-for-30 from behind the arc, hitting at a .267 clip. Albany hit 5-of-10 three-point attempts.
- Senior
guard Tim Ambrose dropped 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dishing
out five assists, leading the Great Danes in each category. Sophomore
guard Mike Black scored 11 points.
- Senior
guard Tyrone Conley led the Wildcats with 15 points. Sophomore guard
Ferg Myrick added 12 points off the bench. Senior center Dane DiLiegro
grabbed a game-high 11 boards.
Stony Brook 64, at UMBC 56 -- Box Score
- Stony Brook (6-6, 1-0 AE)
scored its last eight points from the free throw line, going 8-for-8
from the line in the final 52 seconds, as it held on to beat UMBC (1-13,
0-1 AE).
- Stony Brook's defense held UMBC to 21 points on 8-of-30 shooting from the field in the first half.
- Sophomore
guard Marcus Rouse led the Seawolves with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting
from the field. Junior forward Danny Carter added 10 points.
- UMBC
was led by junior guard Chris De La Rosa, who scored 16 points and
dished out eight assists in 40 minutes of play. Graduate student guard
Travis King scored 13 points while redshirt-freshman guard Jamar Wertz
added 10 points.
at La Salle 87, Binghamton 64 -- Box Score
- Binghamton
(3-10) shot 53.8 percent from the field, but hit just 33.3 percent from
the field after the break as it closed out its non-conference schedule
with a loss to La Salle.
- The
Bearcats were outrebounded, 44-23. The Bearcats allowed La Salle to
grab 25 offensive rebounds and score 25 second-chance points.
- Senior
forward Greer Wright led Binghamton with 20 points, 16 of which came in
the first half. Senior forward Moussa Camara added 12 points off the
bench.
Friday, December 31
at UMass 71, Boston University 54 -- Box Score
- UMass went on a 16-1 run in a span of 6:49 in the second half, extending its lead over Boston U. (5-9) from two points to 17.
- The Terriers shot just 31.6 percent from the field, including 25.0 percent from the three-point line (5-for-20).
- Boston U. went just 13-for-22 from the free throw line. UMass hit 20-of-25 of its attempts from the charity stripe.
- Forward
John Holland led the Terriers with 17 points on 6-of-20 shooting from
the field. Darryl Partin and D.J. Irving each added 12 points.
at St. Mary's 87, Hartford 63 -- Box Score
- Hartford
(2-10) shot 42.1 percent from the field, but allowed St. Mary's (CA) to
shoot 56 percent on field goal attempts, including 12-of-23 from behind
the arc.
- St. Mary's outrebounded the Hawks, 42-23.
- Hartford attempted just 11 free throws, making five. St. Mary's went 19-for-31 from the charity stripe.
- Forward
Morgan Sabia led the Hawks with 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting,
including 5-of-8 from three-point range. Guard Milton Burton added 14
points.
