Stony Brook Picks Up First Conference Win; Holmes Notches 1,000th Point

*Stony Brook 73, at Maine 70 -- Boxscore

  • Senior forward Kirsten Jeter scored a career-high 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field and 8-of-9 from the line while also grabbing 10 boards to lead Stony Brook (4-15, 1-6 in America East) to a win at Maine (3-16, 1-6 AE). The win was the first conference win of the season for the Seawolves.
  • Stony Brook forced 25 Maine turnovers, leading to 23 points. The Seawolves turned the ball over 17 times.
  • Maine outrebounded Stony Brook, 48-39.
  • Junior center Destiny Jacobs scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Sophomore guard Sam Landers also scored 12 points.  
  • Maine was led by Katelynn Vanderhoff who scored 17 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Freshman guard Ashleigh Roberts added 14 points and senior guard Tanna Ross scored 13 points.

*Binghamton 55, at Vermont 51 (OT) -- Boxscore

  • Junior guard Andrea Holmes hit a three-pointer with just over one minute remaining in overtime to give Binghamton (13-7, 6-1 AE) a 52-51 lead over Vermont (2-18, 2-5 AE) that it would not relinquish.
  • Binghamton shot 5-for-15 from long range while Vermont hit just four of its 23 attempts from beyond the arc.
  • Holmes led the Bearcats with 26 points on 10-for-24 shooting from the field to go along with 11 rebounds. Senior guard Jackie Ward went 4-for-5 from the field, including 2-for-3 from three-point range, and 5-for-6 from the line to score15 points.
  • Sophomore center Lauren Buschmann scored a team-high 16 points. Senior forward Tonya Young added 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

*at UMBC 69, New Hampshire 51 -- Boxscore

  • UMBC (11-9, 5-2 AE) recorded 13 steals and forced New Hampshire (5-14, 2-5 AE) into 18 turnovers, leading to 27 UMBC points. The Retrievers committed only five turnovers.
  • The Retriever defense limited New Hampshire to just 44 shot attempts. UMBC's offense attempted 56 field goals.
  • UMBC recorded assists on 20 of its 25 made baskets.
  • Junior center Tope Obajolu scored 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field and 8-of-10 shooting from the line. Junior forward Erin Brown added 12 points.
  • Senior center Jill McDonald led the Wildcats with 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Sophomore guard Cari Reed added 11 points.

*at Boston U. 58, Hartford 50 -- Boxscore

  • Boston U. (10-9, 7-0 AE) outscored Hartford (6-14, 3-4 AE), 38-23, in the second half to remain undefeated in America East play and deal the Hawks their third straight conference loss.
  • The Terriers outrebounded the Hawks, 43-32, including 19-9 on the offensive glass. The Terriers scored 16 second-chance points.
  • Sophomore guard Mo Moran led the Terriers with 19 points, five assists and three steals. Guard Chantell Alford added 15 points. Senior center Kerry Cashman pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds while scoring nine points.
  • Hartford was led by sophomore guard Daphne Elliott who scored 13 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from the line. Junior guard Ilicia Mathis scored 13 points off the bench. Sophomore forward Ruthanne Doherty scored 10 points while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.
