Two Conference Games Highlight Sunday Afternoon's Action

  • The Terriers, the preseason coaches' favorite, enter conference play in a tie for fourth place with a 3-9 record, while the Black Bears come into the league slate behind by just one game.
  • Boston U. swept the home-and-home series last year and has won every meeting in the series since falling at Maine on January 23, 2008, 77-82. The Black Bears lead the all-time series, 40-26.
  • Terriers sophomore Chantell Alford is second on the team with 12.4 ppg, which ranks sixth in the conference, and stands at 596 career points.
  • A trio of underclassmen have provided the offense for the Black Bears as sophomore Amber Smith (11.9 ppg), freshman Ashleigh Roberts (9.0 ppg), and sophomore Katelyn Vanderhoff (8.7 ppg) lead the team.

  • Hartford took two of three meetings from Vermont last season, but the Catamounts claimed the most important victory in the 2010 championship game over the Hawks. Both teams represented America East in the NCAA Tournament a season ago.
  • Both teams have struggled to shoot the ball during the non-league slate, with Hartford and Vermont ranking seventh and ninth, respectively in the league with field goal percentages of .344 and .318.
  • A pair of seniors lead both teams into this game. Hartford guard Mary Silvia leads the Hawks with 9.0 ppg, while the Catamounts' Katelyn Vanderhoff has a team-high 8.9 ppg.


Fordham at Albany    1 p.m. l Live Stats l

  • As they close out the non-conference schedule, the Great Danes face their first Atlantic-10 opponent of the year. Albany faced the Rams in last year's season opener, falling 76-56.
  • Albany has a conference-best scoring defense of 58.3 points against per game. The Great Danes also average 9.1 steals per game, third in the league, and has forced double-digit steals on five occasions this year.

  • New Hampshire outscored the visiting Rams, 18-4, in the third overtime period to close out its non-conference schedule on a high note.
  • Junior forward Denise Beliveau scored a team-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the win. Senior center Jill McDonald added 22 points, a team-high 12 boards and five blocks.
  • The Wildcats drained a season-high 13 three-pointers, shooting .464 (13-from-28) for the game. Sophomore Cari Reed, who was the third Wildcat to finish with 20+ points (21 points), went 5-for-10 from long-distance.
