CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Boston University senior Allie Dolce (Jamestown, R.I./North Kingston) earned the America East Field Hockey Player of the Week with solid performances in both a home coming and a home opener last week, while Albany's Daphne Voormolen (Rotterdam/The Netherlands) had a memorable collegiate debut to win her first Rookie of the Week award. Both awards were for the week ending September 5.

Dolce, the reigning America East Midfielder of the Year, registered six points on two goals and two assists in two games last week, helping the Terriers remain undefeated in 2010. In her home state of Rhode Island facing Providence, the senior scored in the third minute, then assisted on a tally less than nine minutes later to help the Terriers win, 3-0.

In Boston U.'s home opener against UMass, Dolce once again opened the scoring just 50 seconds into the game, then assisted off a corner on the deciding goal in a 2-1 victory for the Terriers.

Once Voormolen scored her first collegiate goal just four minutes into Albany's game against Bucknell on Saturday, she just kept rolling as she went on to record a hat trick in the 3-2 victory. The freshman forward gave the Great Danes a 2-0 lead in the 14th minute, and then tallied the third score in the 44th minute of Albany's lone game of the week. Voormolen hit the back of the cage on each of her team-high three shots on goal.

Both Albany and Boston U. vaulted into the NFHCA National Division I Poll this week. The Terriers found themselves at #15 when the organization released the poll earlier today, while the Great Danes were ranked #18. Both teams were receiving votes in the previous poll.
