Vermont 2, Wisconsin-Milwaukee 1 (2OT)-- Box Score
The Catamounts rebounded from their 1-0 defeat in the opening of the UNH Nike Fall Soccer Classic with a thrilling 2-1 (2OT) victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Vermont jumped out to an early lead behind freshman defender Salvatore Borea, who scored the first goal of his career in the 3rd minute. However, the Panthers responded in the 22nd minute when Andrew Wiedabach scored his second goal of the season. With the game looking like it was heading towards a draw, junior Nick O’Neill netted his second game-winning goal of the season, this one coming with only 20 seconds left on the clock.
The Catamounts return to action this weekend when they host the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Nike Fall Classic in Burlington, VT.
UNH 1, Central Connecticut St. 0-- Box Score
UNH improved its record to 1-0-1 with an impressive 1-0 victory over Central Connecticut St. in the final game of the UNH Nike Fall Soccer Classic.
The Wildcats dominated throughout, outshooting Central Connecticut St. 18-9 over the course of the game. The lone goal came in the 35th minute, when freshman forward Steven Palumbo scored the first goal of his career to give UNH the lead. Senior goalkeeper Colin O’Donnell put together a tremendous performance, making seven saves in the victory.
UNH will look to continue its impressive start to the season when they participate in the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Nike Fall Classic next weekend.
Boston University 2, Columbia 0-- Box Score
The Terriers continued their undefeated start to the 2010 season with an impressive 2-0 victory over Columbia at Nickerson Field.
In a very exciting and action-packed game, Boston University scored two goals late in the second half to secure the win. Senior midfielder Ben Havey scored the game-winning goal in the 76th minute. The Terriers put the game away in the 89th minute with a goal from senior forward Aaron O'Neal. The goal was the third of the season for the Boston University captain.
The Terriers will look to continue their undefeated start to the season when they face Seton Hall on September 10. The match up with the Pirates is the first of three straight road games for Boston University.
