Albany Victory Highlights Labor Day Women's Soccer Action

Monday, September 6

at Monmouth 2, Boston University 1-- Box Score

In their first road game of the season, the Terriers fell 2-1 against Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J.. The loss drops BU to 2-4-0 this season.

The game got off to an action-packed start, with each team scoring in the first 13 minutes. Monmouth grabbed the lead in the 6th minute, but Boston University responded with a goal from freshman midfielder Emma Clark in the 13th minute. The goal was the second of the season for the exciting freshman. However, the Hawks took the lead in the 70th minute and held on for the victory.

The Terriers return to action on September 10 when they participate in the University of Virginia Tournament in Charlottesville, Va.

 

at Albany 1, Massachusetts 0-- Box Score

Albany secured its third consecutive victory with an impressive 1-0 win over visiting Massachusetts. With the win, the Great Danes improved their record to 3-2-0.

Despite attempting only three shots on goal throughout the game, the Great Danes used a strong defensive performance to earn the win. Sophomore forward Shalya Bergeron continued her torrid start to the season, scoring the lone goal of the game in the 23rd minute. The goal was the team-high fourth of the season for Bergeron. Sophomore goalkeeper Breanna Maggio made seven saves to help Albany hold off the Minutewomen.

The Great Danes will look to close out their four-game homestand with an undefeated record when they host Syracuse on September 10.
