Boston U. 3, at Hartford 0 -- Box Score | Postgame Interviews
Boston University (1-0-1) traveled down to Hartford (0-2-0) for a non-conference game against a conference opponent. The Terriers won the match, 3-0, spoiling the Hawks' home opener.
Boston U. senior forward Aaron O'Neal scored two goals in the first half to lead the Terriers to victory over their conference foe. O'Neal scored his first goal unassisted in just the second minute of the game. He tacked on his second tally in the 15th minute on a pass from Stephen Knox.
Terrier senior Ben Havey scored in the 22nd minute to put Boston U. up, 3-0.
The Terriers outshot the Hawks, 13-2. Senior defender Bojan Delibasic and junior forward Patrick Boucher took the two Hartford shots.
UMBC 2, Wofford 0 -- Box Score | Video Highlights
The UMBC Retrievers (2-0-0) continued their dominant September play with a 2-0 victory over Wofford in the UMBC/Navy Kickoff tournament. The win is the 13th straight victory in the month of September for the Retrievers. The streak dates back to 2008.
Senior midfielder Levi Houapeu scored his second goal of the season just before the half to put UMBC up, 1-0, going into the break. Junior forward Andrew Bulls assisted on the goal, his fourth assist of the young season.
In the 78th minute, junior forward Nirav Kadam scored his second goal on a pass from senior defender Chris Williams to ensure the Retriever victory.
UMBC took 13 shots on the match while allowing Wofford to attempt just five shots.
Albany 2, St. Francis College (NY) 1 -- Box Score
The Great Danes (2-0-0) ran out to a two-goal lead and held on for a 2-1 win at home against St. Francis College.
Albany took advantage of an opportunity in the 39th minute, when a St. Francis foul in the box led to a penalty kick for the Great Danes. Senior midfielder Milos Jankovic put his shot past junior keeper Curtis Julien, giving Albany the lead, 1-0.
In the 51st minute, the Great Danes pushed their lead to 2-0 when senior midfielder Ian Peach took a bouncing ball off a free kick and put it home from 10 yards out.
St. Francis cut the lead in half in the 73rd minute on a goal by Adam Maabdi. The Terriers, however, were unable to get any closer, losing, 2-1.
Julien had 12 saves for the Terriers. Albany junior keeper Adrian Foncette had six saves in the match.
New Hampshire 0, Wisconin-Milwaukee 0 (2OT) -- Box Score
New Hampshire (0-0-1) opened its 2010 campaign with a 0-0 draw against Wisconsin-Milwaukee as the Wildcats host the UNH Nike Fall Soccer Classic.
Both teams had plenty of opportunities to score, as UWM outshot New Hampshire, 14-11. The visiting Panthers also had more shots on goal, six, against only one for the Wildcats.
The New Hampshire defense was solid, led by senior keeper Colin O'Donnell. O'Donnell saved all six shots on goal, including two saves in the overtime periods.
Central Connecticut State 1, Vermont 0 -- Box Score
Vermont (1-1-0) played the afternoon game of the UNH Nike Fall Soccer Classic at New Hampsire, losing, 1-0, to Central Connecticut State.
Junior midfielder Eduardo Ortiz scored the only goal of the match for the Blue Devils in just the ninth minute. The goal, which Ortiz put past Vermont sophomore keeper David Ramada, was assisted by senior midfielder Robert Cavener. The Blue Devils were able to hold that lead the rest of the way to earn the victory.
Seven different players took a shot in the match for the Catamounts.
Upcoming Action
Stony Brook vs. Colgate, 12 p.m.
The Seawolves will be looking to close out the Lafayette Puma Classic on a positive note when they match up with Colgate. Stony Brook fell 3-1 to Lafayette in its opening game of the tournament.
After a scoreless first half, the Seawolves grabbed the lead in the 61st minute through freshman forward Will Casey. Junior midfielder Wilber Bonilla recorded his second assist of the season on the goal by Casey. However, Lafayette responded in impressive fashion, scoring three goals in 14 minutes to pull out the comfortable victory.
Following the match up with Colgate, Stony Brook travels to Tampa, Fla. to face USF.
Binghamton vs. No. 9/15 Monmouth, 12:30 p.m. Live Stats
After opening their season with a 1-0 loss against No.17/22 UNC-Wilmington (CSN/NSCAA rankings), the Bearcats take on No. 9/15 Monmouth in their final game at the West Virginia Tournament.
Despite being unable to overcome the 14th minute goal from senior forward Nassim Berhouni, the Bearcats played aggressive soccer in the loss. Sophomore forward Adam Whitehead attempted two shots in the loss, but the Bearcats were unable to get the ball past senior goalkeeper Brock Duckworth.
Binghamton will continue its difficult non-conference schedule next week when it participates in the Penn State Tournament in State College, Pa.
