Wednesday, September 22
Albany at Bryant, 4 p.m.- Live Stats
The Great Danes will hope to rebound from their tough loss to Central Connecticut St., when they travel to Smithfield, R.I., for a match up with Bryant.
Despite falling, 3-0, to the Blue Devils, Albany played attacking soccer throughout the match. The Great Danes outshot their opponent, 19-15, over the course of the match, but were unable to get the ball past Central Connecticut St. goalkeeper Nikola Dieter, who made seven saves in the victory. After a scoreless first half, Allison Kelley scored the first of her two goals to give the Blue Devils the lead in the 65th minute. CCSU added to its lead only five minutes later, as Rachel Cerrone found the back of the net in the 70th minute. Albany junior midfielder Rebecca Lee led the Great Danes in attack, attempting four shots in the loss.
Albany returns to the friendly confines of Varsity Field when it hosts Stony Brook on September 30.
UMBC at Loyola (Md), 5 p.m.- Live Stats | Live Video | Live Audio
UMBC will attempt to put an end to its four-game losing streak when it faces cross-town rival Loyola (Md).
In the opening game of their three-game road trip, the Retrievers could not overcome a first-half goal in their 1-0 loss to American. Brooke Sheppard scored the lone goal of the game, netting her second goal of the season in the 20th minute. While American had numerous chances the rest of the game, UMBC played terrific defensive soccer to help keep the Eagles off the scoreboard. Sophomore forward Rachel McKee led the Retrievers in attack, as she attempted five shots.
The Retrievers open up their conference schedule with a matchup against Vermont on September 26.
Cornell at Binghamton, 7 p.m. - Live Stats | Live Video
The Bearcats will hope to end their three-game losing streak when they host Cornell.
Binghamton is coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Seton Hall. The Pirates were the dominant offensive team for much of the match, outshooting Binghamton, 27-7, over the course of the match. However, the lone goal of the game came in the 35th minute, courtesy of Meghan Hayes. Binghamton freshman goalkeeper Carrie Martin put together a strong effort, making six saves in the loss. Sophomore forward Jamie Holliday was named the America East Player of the Game for her excellent work in attack for the Bearcats.
The Bearcats kick off conference play on September 26 when they welcome Maine to the Bearcats Sports Complex.
