Albany 1, Iona 0 -- Box Score

Albany opened its home schedule Wednesday, beating the Iona Gaels on the back of an early goal.

Albany sophomore forward Chelsea DeVerna scored her first goal of the 2010 season. That goal, scored in the 15th minute of Wednesday's game, proved to be the difference maker, as the Great Danes went on to defeat the Gaels, 1-0.

Albany was on the attack the entire match. The Great Danes doubled the shot total of the Gaels, attempting 22 shots to Iona's 11.

Of Iona's 11 shots, five were shots on goal, each of which was saved by sophomore keeper Breanna Maggio. Maggio recorded her fourth career shutout.
