Albany, UMBC Win in Men's Soccer Action; Five Teams Play on Sunday

UMBC 3, Mount St. Mary’s 2- Box Score

The Retrievers earned their first road win of the season with an impressive 3-2 victory over Mount St. Mary’s.

UMBC displayed great resolve by overcoming the 2-0 halftime deficit, as Mount St. Mary’s used goals in the 34th minute and 40th minute to grab the lead. The Retrievers began their comeback in the 53rd minute, when senior defender Chris Williams scored his first goal of the season. Senior midfielder Levi Houapeu tied the game in the 63rd minute, scoring his sixth goal of the season. UMBC grabbed the game-winning goal in the 77th minute. Freshman forward Pete Caringi III provided the heroics for UMBC, netting his fourth goal of the season to seal the win.

The Retrievers continue their three-game road trip with a visit to Baltimore, Md. for a match up with Loyola (Md.).

Albany 1, Hartwick 0- Box Score

Albany opened its three-game road trip with a 1-0 win over Hartwick.

The Great Danes picked up their second straight shutout win, using a goal in the 33rd minute to pick up the road victory. Albany senior forward Bo Jelovac scored his second goal of the season, which was all the Albany defense would need. Junior goalkeeper Adrian Foncette made six saves to record his second consecutive shutout.

The Great Danes head to the West Coast to face San Diego on September 24.

Sunday, September 19

Vermont vs. Lafayette, 12 p.m.- Live Stats

The Catamounts will look to extend their unbeaten streak to five games when they face Lafayette at the Colgate Raider Adidas Classic.

In its opening game of the tournament, the Catamounts tied Colgate 0-0 (2OT). The Catamounts, who are ranked No. 5 in the NSCAA Northeast Region Poll, put together a strong defensive effort to keep the Raiders off the board. Vermont graduate student goalkeeper Xan Rouselle made eight saves to record his second shutout in the past three games.

Following the match up with Lafayeete, the Catamounts travel to Amherst, Mass., to face Massachusetts.

Bryant at Stony Brook, 1 p.m.- Live Stats ; Live Video

Stony Brook will hope to extend its winning streak to three games when it hosts  Bryant.

The Seawolves have started to find their offensive rhythm, and it was on display in their 4-2 victory over Central Connecticut St. Sophomore forward Raphael Abreu opened the scoring in the 17th minute with his first goal of the season. After the Blue Devils tied the game, Stony Brook sophomore forward Berian Gobeil responded with his second goal of the season. Goals in the second half from junior forward Wilber Bonilla and sophomore midfielder Leonardo Fernandes secured the win for the Seawolves.

Stony Brook continues its four-game homestand with a visit from Harvard on September 24.

Binghamton vs. Colgate, 2:30 p.m.- Live Stats ; Live Video

Binghamton closes out its participation in the Colgate Raider Adidas Classic against Colgate.

The Bearcats picked up their first win of the season with a key 1-0 win over Lafayette. The lone goal of the game came in the 2nd minute, as senior defender Kyle Mansuck scored off a corner kick to earn the victory for Binghamton. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Chris Hayen made three saves to record the first shutout of his career.

Binghamton will finally play its home-opener when its hosts Cornell on September 26.

Hartford at Rutgers, 2:30 p.m.- Live Stats

The Hawks travel to Piscataway, N.J., for a match up with Rutgers.

The game against Rutgers will be the second straights against Big East competition for the Hawks. Hartford is coming off a 3-0 loss to St. John’s. The Red Storm opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of action, as Omar Edwards found the back of the net. The score remained the same until the 73rd minute when Tadeu Terra scored from the penalty spot to extend the lead. Adam Himeno netted his second goal of the season to seal the win for St. John’s. Junior goalkeeper Jordan Bar played tremendous for Hartford, making seven saves in the loss.

Hartford closes out its three-game road trip with a visit to Oneonta, N.Y., to face Hartwick.

Brown at Boston University, 7 p.m.- Live Stats ; Live Video ; Live Listen

The Terriers will hope to put an end to their two-game losing streak when they host Brown at Nickerson Field.

After a tightly-fought opening 30 minutes, No. 5 Boston College scored four goals between the 34th and 43rd minute to earn the comfortable victory. Conor Fitzpatrick opened the scoring for the Eagles, finding the back of the net off an impressive shot from 30 yards out. Karl Reddick extended the Boston College lead less than one minute later with a goal off a free kick. The Eagles added two more goals to secure the 4-0 win. Junior midfielder Michael Bustamante led the Terriers in attack, attempting three shots.

Boston University continues its three-game homestand with a visit from Rhode Island on September 24.
